English Assistant

Role Mission:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic English teacher to join our team full-time in Tripoli. Our English curriculum is designed by our Lead English teacher and it is built to complement and assist the Core technical programme. Consequently, our students have varied English levels (currently taught in 3 groups: Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced). We are looking for someone who is adaptable and flexible in their approach and able to understand the requirements of each individual student. We want our graduates to leave Codi with the employability skills to survive in a competitive market, including full English proficiency.

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver one-to-one English speaking sessions to students to ensure language exposure
• Maintain and update tracking and progress systems for each student and use this to ascertain key trends and requirements for sessions and necessary curriculum implementations
• Where necessary, assist students with advice and coaching with any English-medium endeavours e.g. presentations, CVs, cover letters etc.
• Work with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
• Collaborate with lead teachers to recognise issues students are facing and recommend solutions
• Provide regular reports to the lead English teacher with regards to students’ progress
• Introduce new and innovative teaching methods and best practice

Profile Requirements: 

• Be a native English teacher or have the necessary qualifications and demonstrated experience in teaching English to a diverse demographic
• Be able to foster rapid improvement in students’ spoken and written English capabilities in a relatively short time frame
• Prepare students for employment, providing them with the necessary business English skills 

Qualifications:

• Fluency in English (ideally mother tongue) 
• Enthusiastic, well-organised, efficient, flexible, keen to learn new skills
• Ability to participate within a multidisciplinary team and act autonomously as needed

Schedule and Compensation:

• Full-time (5 days a week, 9-5) - subject to negotiation
• Compensation for discussion
