Children’s MH sessions development Expert

1- Background:

The Arab Resource Collective (ARC) is a non-governmental regional organization. ARC's mission is to work with partners on producing and disseminating knowledge, promoting policies, and developing human resources in order to translate rights into reality. ARC targets children and youth within their environment, and focuses on health, education, and protection.
HEPPP - Health, Early Learning, and Protection Parenting Program- is a curriculum guide developed by the Arab Resource Collective and is a tool that aims to empower the role of mothers and fathers in the care of their children based on principles of child ecology, positive child psychology, development, and child rights. It provides a framework of concepts, knowledge, and exercises that help develop the practices of parents in the education of their children while adopting an integrated and holistic approach to child early learning, care, health, development, and parental well being.
The guide is now composed of 32 sessions: 20 ECD and parenting sessions, 6 Early Learning Sessions, 6 Mental Health for caregivers sessions.
In 2020, the guide was also updated and digitized into a self-taught and interactive course. This course is found on Urjouha, ARC’s parenting website. The website is an online platform developed to accompany caregivers on their journey with girls and boys, from pregnancy until the age of 8 years.

2- Objective:

Experts will work simultaneously in order to develop 6 Sessions on the Mental Health of children that will be added to HEPPPs’ program and provided for parents and caregivers.
The 6 sessions component will cover mental health of kids, children's emotional needs during an emergency, how to support children with mental health issues, and what factors affect children's mental health.

3- Qualifications:

BA in psychology or social work or other related fields.
At least 5 years experience working with children and/or parents.
At least 2 years of experience in developing sessions and curriculums..
The experts should be experienced in MHPSS or other relevant topics.
Self-initiator, with good team spirit and creative in setting out realistic and applicable content.
Respect of professional confidentiality.
Good organizational and reporting skills.
Good time management skills in order to meet deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a team.
Knowledge and experience in using digital tools are a plus.
Knowledge of Child rights standards or principles.
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic language.

Good spoken and written French and English languages.

4- Tasks and responsibilities:

a) Communication and Coordination:

Actively participate in weekly meetings with the project coordinator.
Attend meetings with the ARC’s management team when needed.
Provide regular progress to the project coordinator.
Liaise and meet with ARC’S team including but not limited to Graphic designer, Video Production Team, ICT officer concerning digitized materials such as videos, podcasts when and if needed…
Liaise with the project coordinator and provide all required outputs on time.
Follow the timeline given by ARC and communicate any challenges with the Programmes’ Coordinator.
The experts will work closely and simultaneously on all the sessions’ development and deliverables based on a plan they set and present to ARC’s team.
Attend a training session on HEPPP, Urjouha, the digital tool to be used and the sessions’ identity.

b)Content Development:

Work in accordance with the HEPPP style and objectives.
Attend and actively participate in a brainstorming meeting for the sessions.
Develop a detailed planning of the sessions.
Develop the MH session’s objectives in coordination with the project and the program's coordinators.
Develop the MH Sessions key messages in coordination with the project and the program's coordinators.
Develop training materials in Arabic.
Incorporate the feedback of ARC’s team into the sessions’ planning and material.
Provide scientific references concerning the training’s materials.
Develop pre-post tests to assess the parents’ parents’ knowledge change.
Conceptualize training materials in a simple and parent friendly language.

NOTE: The ownership of the entire curriculum and sessions will be exclusive for Arab Resource Collective, while respecting and listing the names of experts working on its development.
