About NAHNOO
NAHNOO is a registered Lebanese Non-Governmental & Non-Profit Organization. NAHNOO has been working since 2009 as a research, capacity-building and advocacy platform for participatory policymaking, towards an inclusive society in Lebanon. The NGO rallies volunteers across Lebanon and through multidisciplinary and participatory research, capacity-building workshops, and grassroots activities, we provide a platform for youth and professionals to lead the planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns and gain the skills needed to impact policy-making at the local and national levels. Project Background
NAHNOO has been implementing the “Community Cultural Public Space Activation” project in Bourj Hammoud, as an art scene for the right to express in a participatory way. After completing the first phase in 2020-2021, NAHNOO will pursue its artistic project during 2022 by keeping on discovering and equipping some of the unused squares into public spaces ready to receive and implement various artistic and social works, while involving the community in all stages of preparation.
Our aim with this project is enhance social cohesion in the underdeveloped spaces in Burj Hammoud, which is a highly urbanized neighbourhood, and change its general image into a more tolerant one where residents from different demographic, economic and socio-cultural backgrounds are ready to interact, discuss, learn and express through arts. The project will bring people in the neighbourhood together by activating public squares/spaces and promote social cohesion and tolerance through innovative artistic methods.
Objectives of the project :
Objective 1: To empower 7 to 10 talented and artistically passionate youth residing in Burj Hammoud and Greater Burj Hammoud aged +18 years old to become civically engaged and bearers of change in their community
Objective 2: goal build on the right of citizens to access, perform, and express themselves in public spaces (buildings/built structures, squares, street, etc.), which can in turn, develop into spaces for learning and cultural exchange.
Scope of work, format and key tasks:
- Responsible for providing the equipment needed to complete the tasks.
- Take photos documenting weekly sessions and other activities related to project objective (meetings, events, etc.) *
- Produce short videos documenting weekly sessions & artistic performances (visual art, theater, and film making) *
- Edit videos (and photos if needed) in coordination with project team
* Note: there are a maximum of 28 sessions. Each session is between 2h and 3h long.
Qualifications/level requirements
- Degree in audiovisual field, with minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to bear very flexible working hours, including attending evening meetings in implementation areas and during weekends (Training sessions will be often on Saturdays and Sundays (
- Experience working with NGOs is preferred
- Must be fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English
Expert fees & duration:
Selection of consultant is based on competitiveness of the provided offer (daily fees ).
Assignment to start as soon as possible till October 2022 with possibility of extension (depending on performance & need).
