Social Worker - Case Manager / Bekaa (Maternity Replacement)

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the coordination of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Substance Use  (MHPSS and SUB) activities among different mental health staff and with PHC staff.
  • Coordinate with the MHPSS team (psychologists ,Psychiatrist, nurses), on the implementation of all MH interventions and activities.
  • Work close with all MDM teams including community outreach team, GBV and Medical team.
  • Properly assess and refer beneficiaries in need of mental health and substance use support/treatment to specialized services.
  • Provide case-management to mental health beneficiaries accessing MDM’s MHPSS and SUB services.
  • Provide appropriate psycho-social support and assessment  to beneficiaries in need in the CMHC-SUC and in the PHCC.
  • Sensitisation and capacity building among PHC staff, refugee community, and host population about MHPSS.
  • Support the MHPSS integration in the PHCCs.
  • In coordination with the mental health team, develop and facilitate psycho-social activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive mental health and substance use  measures at both the community and PHC Centre level.

 

 

Main responsibilities and activities of the Social Worker can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

 

 

Main activities:

 

  1. Coordinate mental health activities among different mental health staff and with PHC staff:

 

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team on mental health and substance use issues presented in PHC Centres, within the communities and the CMH-SUC/CMHC.
  • Assist in the assessment of mental health needs and proposition of interventions in collaboration with the mental health team and PHC staff.
  • When required participate in regular meetings with key actors, CMH-SUC/CMHC and PHCC’s staff;
  • When required, participation in network/coordination meetings concerning mental health.
  • Participation in MDM internal team meetings and individual meetings with the MHPSS Supervisor.
  • Participate in the clinical supervision provided by the Deputy MHPSS co and the case discussion meeting with the multidisciplinary team.

 

  1. Provide psycho-social support and case-management for mental health beneficiaries:
  •  Provide psycho-social support and assessment to the refugee community and host population at the primary health clinics, CMHC/CMH-SUC and community level (Home visit if needed).
  • Work directly with the MHPSS team (psychologists, Psychiatrist and nurses) to develop individualized treatment plans for MHPSS and SUB beneficiaries.
  • Provide proper case-management for MDM MHPSS and SUB beneficiaries and to the support by MdM PHCC patient.

 

  1.  Community mental health interventions:

 

  • Participate in defining effective and culturally appropriate approaches and interventions on the community level.
  • Participate in focus groups discussions and assessments with the community.
  • Focus on information dissemination and receive feedback from the community. 
  • In coordination with the mental health team the medical team and the community outreach team , develop evidence based health group interventions focusing mental health and psychosocial support on the community level
  • In coordination with the MHPSS supervisor and technical team, the community outreach team, train community mental health workers on provision of psycho-social support.
  • Implement MDM approved psychosocial activities at the community level.
  • Initiate and facilitate support groups, awareness sessions and psychoeducation sessions.

 

  1. Integration of mental health into Primary Health Centres.
  • Participate in the capacity building of PHCC staff with trainings.
  • Prepare and facilitate awareness sessions about MHPSS for medical and non-medical staff at PHCs.
  • Provide support supervision and coaching to the no-medical PHCC staff regarding the integration of MHPSS in the PHCCs (identification, management, awareness and referrals).
  • Advocate on all mental health related issues and/or concerns in the PHCC.
  • Provide proper case management services to the PHCCs support by MDM for the patient.

 

 

 

  1. Utilize the referral system between community and PHC Centre as well as to other basic services:
  • Develop with community mental health workers referral system between community and PHC level.
  • Develop a holistic service mapping in the areas of intervention.
  • Utilize the referral system to health services including mental health specialized services and other available services in the area.
  • Referral of case-managed beneficiaries to all other needed services. 
  • Work closely with GBV team to ensure proper GBV referrals.

 

  1. Data and reporting
  • Ensure the proper data entry.
  • Ensure the proper file feeling (case management files) and proper stored.
  • Provide weekly reporting and monthly reports to the line manager on all the activities (direct and indirect).
  • Participate, as MDM team, that feedback and complaint mechanism is proper followed and provide feedback to the line manager when it is needed.
  1. Analysis, detection and reduction of risk factors influencing the mental health status at community level:

 

  • In collaboration with the mental health team, explore and detect potential risk factors influencing mental health status of the target population.
  • When required, coordinate with other stakeholders to reduce and/or eliminate potential risk factors.

 

  1. Develop and perform preventive measures for stable mental health at community and PHC Centre level:

 

  • In collaboration with the mental health team, develop and implement innovative preventive mental health interventions and activities to be undertaken within the community.

Requested Competence/Skills/Profile

 

  • University degree in Social Work required.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in NGO work.
  • Experience working within the field of Mental Health will be valued.
  • Belief in a comprehensive and holistic approach towards positive mental health.
  • Arabic and English language are mandatory.
  • Ability to cope with difficult security context.
  • Good coordination and communication skills are a key factor to this position.
  • Excellence in organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to identify   strengths and weakness and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
  • Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
  • Ability to seek, collect, and critically analyse data and information needed to achieve the tasks.
  • Clear commitment to the project thematic.
  • Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share any important project information with the team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word.
  • Ability to self-reflect on your work, to recognize what needs improvement and to propose solutions.
