Life Skills & Career Guidance Trainer

 

Job overview

 

The Trainer will work under the project ‘‘Employability and soft skills programme for youth in Akkar, North Lebanon” implemented by Mada Association and funded by UNICEF. The objective of the project is to increased access of Lebanese and Non-Lebanese youth (15-24 years) to technical and vocational training and innovative skills building programmes for improved professional readiness and employability.

 

The Trainer will be in charge of the specific project activity:

  • Life Skills Training for Personal Empowerment and Healthy Behavior for the 50 youth, including cognitive, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, essential for personal development and entering the labor market.
  • Career Guidance as per UNICEF guidelines

 

The project activity aims at the expected result:

  • 50 youth trained on the Life Skills programme packages (Civic Engagement, Social Cohesion, positive employability and Career Guidance).

 

main responsibilities

 

  • Under the supervision of the Project manager, support to ensure that the activities under his/her responsibility are delivered within budget, on time, and in line with the project proposal, timeline and logical framework.
  • Conduct life skills and career guidance sessions as required by the project timelines and as requested by the Project manager.
  • The trainer will be provided be conducting training as per UNICEF guidelines including below topics:

  • Positive Brainstorming.
  • The power of pausing.
  • Biases.
  • Individual dream.
  • Discovering habits.
  • Positive Communication.
  • Positive Negotiations.
  • High quality connections.

  • Positive Leadership.

Career Guidance

  • How to decide on a career path.
  • How and where to search for a job.
  • How to use various tools and platforms for job hunting.
  • How to write a resume.
  • How to write a cover letter.
  • How to prepare for an interview.
  • How to set up a professional LinkedIn profile.
  • How to write a professional email.

 

Type of Contract: Service contract

 

  • The training will be conducted for one cycle of 15 days in Akkar: date and time will be decided by Mada Association
  • The training will be provided to a group of 25 Lebanese and non-Lebanese youth
  • The trainer could apply for two cycles if the schedule allows working in parallel under two different locations across Akkar

The Trainer shall be responsible for the proper presentation of the content and shall ensure an active session including real life examples while providing any relevant material needful for an interactive session.

 

Mada Association should validate any modification on the curriculum content prior to any presentation.

 

Deliverables at the end of the mission

  • Attendance sheet
  • Pre and post test results
  • Training evaluation
  • Report and recommendation
  • Curriculum and the presentation used.

 

The language of the training shall be in Arabic.

Reporting
  • Ensure quality and timely reporting to the Project Manager and the Technical Coordinator on the project activities as requested.
  • Provide timely input for donor reports as requested by the Project manager.
  • Identify and refer vulnerable cases (education, medical, Protection, SGBV….)

Additional Tasks:

  • Support the Project manager with other and additional tasks as required and based on workload.
  • Facilitating online training courses to students if required.
  • Support monitoring and follow-up of the project in coordination with the Project manager and based on need.

 

Education and knowledge required

 

  • Bachelor degree in public relations, communications, journalism international relations, political science, or other related domain – Master’s degree is a plus;
  • At least three years’ experience as a life skills/employability trainer.
  • Proven experience in the design, development, and delivery of similar trainings.
  • Ability to tailor training modules to the specific needs of trainees.
  • Strong knowledge of the Lebanese context and the implications of the Syrian refugee crisis.
  • Experience in designing questionnaires, evaluation forms and pre and post-tests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that evoke trust and cultural sensitivity.
  • Arabic and English fluency is a must (spoken and written)
  • Computer literate and able to conduct online trainings if required.
  • Full adherence to Mada’s mission and vision, as well as Ethics Code.
  • Proactive, flexible and dynamic.

 

Terms of payment and advantages

 

Payments will be made at once, upon the completion of the sessions and handing over of all deliverables as hard copies. The trainer will provide Mada with an invoice including her/his fiscal number in order to receive the payment. If she/he has a fiscal number. If the trainer does not have a fiscal number, Mada will be responsible for complying with the competent tax authorities therefore a 7.5% of the total amount received by the trainer will be deducted to be paid by Mada to cover the trainer’s taxes.
