POSITION OVERVIEW

nafda is seeking a dynamic, creative communications professional to produce engaging content (visual and written) and to serve as a critical agent in developing and handling our brand identity. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven and creative person with a scope of responsibility that involves managing the image of nafda and transmitting our work efficiently and compellingly to the public.

Communications for advocacy and awareness are the responsibilities of this position. The candidate must be ready to represent nafda in various roles as well as become involved with other department projects and events as necessary.

In a fast-moving and growing work environment, the candidate needs to be responsive, flexible, strategic and tactical. S /he will handle online public relations and information output including developing website content, managing social  media  outlets,  writing key publications, building connections with the press, developing marketing tools, angathering on-field stories that document the core work of nafda and its impact for different audiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

⎯     identifying opportunities to elevate the image of nafda; locally and internationally through campaigns, press releases, TV coverage, etc.

⎯     writing promotional materials, including website content, articles, publications, and other communication materials as required

⎯     conducting market research for setting communications priorities and strategies

⎯     actively increasing followers and engagement by developing and implementing a social media strategy

⎯     collecting stories from the field and developing them into well-written communication materials and storyboards for documentaries, videos, and supplementary communication tools that support fundraising and recruitment of schools

⎯     reviewing communication materials with team leads to ensure adherence to programmatic goals, donor requirements, child protection policies and strategic goals

⎯     maintaining a communications database archive (photos, videos, events, press releases, updated stakeholders list…)

⎯     managing relations with external comms/marketing service providers (including graphic designers, videographers, journalists, web-hosting, press, etc)

⎯     Developing and implementing awareness campaigns when needed with external/internal support.

⎯     ensuring adherence to brand and positioning across nafda’s materials and people

⎯     developing materials to support programmatic and development priorities by supporting the team’s communications with key constituents

⎯     preparing mass communications (presentations, brochures, reports…) with the support and data compiled by nafda colleagues

⎯     creating communications of key messages about our movement, mission, and goals and training staff on external communications

⎯     preparing, designing, and sending out bi-monthly/quarterly e-newsletter to share nafda’s highlights

 QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

⎯     At least a bachelor’s in marketing, advertising, media studies, photojournalism, cinematography, photography, audiovisual, or related disciplines with a minimum of three years of professional experience

⎯     experience in education/non-profits/NGOs/ CSR preferred

⎯     Skilled in use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Web and graphics design (such as Photoshop and illustrator) or compatible platforms

⎯     Deep appreciation for visual design

⎯     Proficient in website management

⎯     contacts with press

⎯     Commitment to nafda’s core values, job ethics, and staff procedures

⎯     Ability to use data strategically to improve performance

⎯     Achievement-orientation

⎯     Experience in copywriting and editing

⎯     Social Media marketing

⎯     Energetic with a positive spirit

⎯     Fluent speaking and writing skills in both English & Arabic, French is a plus.
