Theoretical & Practical Trainer – agricultural practices for small gardens

The Trainer will work under the project ‘‘Employability and soft skills programme for youth in Akkar, North Lebanon” implemented by Mada Association and funded by UNICEF. The objective of the project is to increased access of Lebanese and Non-Lebanese youth (15-24 years) to technical and vocational training and innovative skills building programmes for improved professional readiness and employability.

The project aims at: providing short term training to a group of dropout and unemployed Lebanese and non-Lebanese youth; the training will include theoretical and practical sessions (90 hours) of poultry training divided between 45 hours of agricultural training and 45 hours of poultry training.

The Theoretical & Practical Trainer – Agriculture will conduct the program on practices for small gardens over a cycle of 45 hours within a period of 12 days targeting 25 youth.

Definition of the Mission

  • Activity 1: To animate the theoretical training, for a total duration of 45 hours during 12 days according to the curriculum that was validated by Mada’s team.

The contents developed during the classes should be based on the curriculum prepared by MADA and should include:

  • Introduction to Agriculture
  • Soil structure, composition and preparation
  • Irrigation systems
  • Deficiencies and fertilization
  • Selection of Varieties and Seeds
  • Cover crops and soil fertility
  • Crop rotation
  • Pests’ identification
  • Introduction to good agriculture practices
  • Harvest and post-harvest
  • Calculate profit and lost at the end of a season
  • Activity 2: To prepare a pre- and post-test.
  • Activity 3: To prepare the list of materials and equipment needed (to be provided at least 5 days before the beginning of the course)
  • Activity 4: To fill the daily attendance sheets of the trainees, daily sheets and final sheet (Templates will be provided by Mada).
  • Activity 5: To submit at the end of the training, a report including:
  • A brief summary of the workflow of the training;
  • The difficulties;
  • Problems encountered;
  • The solutions taken;
  • Recommendations.
  • Activity 6: To follow-up on youth receiving agricultural inputs to ensure proper handling of the acquired practices through coaching activity upon needs.

Education and knowledge required

 

  • Education required: Bachelor degree in Agriculture engineering and/or related fields;
  • Previous experience in vegetables’ growing and open field cultivation;
  • Previous experience in Training and Education.

 

Terms of payment and advantages

 

  • Service fees (including transportation):

Payments will be made at once, upon the completion of theoretical sessions and delivery of report and daily sheets as hard copies. The trainer will provide Mada with an invoice including her/his fiscal number in order to receive the payment, if she/he has a fiscal number. If the trainer does not have a fiscal number, Mada will be responsible for complying with the competent tax authorities therefore a 7.5% of the total amount received by the trainer will be deducted to be paid by Mada to cover the trainer’s taxes.
