BACKGROUND
LAW is an independent, non-profit organization comprised of human rights lawyers working in fragile and conflict affected areas in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. We have a particular focus on gender equality and sexual and gender-based violence, natural resource exploitation, rule of law and accountability, and transformative justice, working to bring justice to those who need it most. LAW’s ground-breaking work has received international and local media coverage, and recognition.
Functions/Key Deliverables Expected
The following responsibilities will be carried out by the Finance Assistant who will be mentored and supported by the Finance and Admin Manager:
Finance:
- Check that all supporting documents for the requested financial payments are complying with LAW policies and donor requirement;
- Prepare timely and accurate data entry /accounting entries on the Navision System;
- Prepare and support all financial transactions; procurements, and tracking of receipts;
- Assist the Finance Manager in the preparations for External Audits carried out by Donor’s auditors;.
- Review and document all data entry required for the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Review on a monthly basis, to ensure expenditures are properly recorded
Admin:
- File the monthly Journal Vouchers with their supporting documents that are entered into the system;
- Scan all JV’s and supporting documents for the Donors along with monthly financial reports.;
- Review the necessary documents that should be correctly completed including approval/signed by relevant and appropriate authorities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager to help running smoothly the work of the team.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any relevant field of study;
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience working in a similar position;
- Knowledge of Accounting procedures;
- Experience working with an International NGO preferred;
- Previous experience in using ERP. Navision/ Dynamics Nav is an advantage;
- Good Communication skills including fluency in English, written and spoken
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy.
