Livelihoods and Food Security Coordinator

Purpose of the role

The Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS) Coordinator will be a part of the Livelihoods and Food Security team, under the leadership of the LFS Programme Development Manager. The LFS Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the assessment, design, implementation and review of LFS projects in Lebanon across the four area offices, along with support and management of local partners. The LFS Coordinator will also support the development of the country LFS strategy and work closely with other NRC core competencies to find opportunities to integrate and complement the support provided to displacement affected communities across Lebanon.

What you will do

  • Adherence to all NRC policies, guidance and procedures, specifically the NRC Global LFS Strategy and programme policy
  • Support in the development of the LFS strategy, technical SOPs and guidelines
  • Support in the development of funding proposals, project budgets and donor reports
  • Support in developing partnerships with local LFS actors and collaboration with them on programme assessments, design, implementation and monitoring in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Support the LFS Programme Development Manager in liaising and collaborating with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and representing NRC in relevant forums, cluster, and working groups when needed
  • Work with area offices to identify area specific LFS opportunities
  • Work with other core competencies to identify opportunities for integration and collaboration, to achieve joint objectives
  • Develop programme documents and reports
  • Ensure that NRC’s related activities are implemented within NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and report any breaches or concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper action. 

Specifically you will;

  •  Work with area offices and core competencies to integrate LFS components within existing programmes or develop LFS specific projects
  • Contribute to the development of the LFS strategy, Theory of Change, Project LogFrames, Budgets and Plan of Action and support the development of LFS technical guidance, tools and mechanisms
  • Contribute to the identification of beneficial collaboration and partnership with local organisations working on LFS
  • Contribute to LFS programme development, adjustment or review
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate and market-based programme modalities, such as cash, voucher, in-kind, service provision
  • Conduct LFS technical assessments, present recommendations and develop action plans
  • Conduct LFS research and document findings and recommendations
  • Contribute to organisational learning through the provision of specific technical analysis, lessons learned and reports
  • Support the development of LFS training and provide specific technical learning or/and training for project staff and LFS partner organisations
  • Support the work of other NRC teams in relation to LFS, such as Communications, Advocacy, Logistics, Finance and Risk and Compliance
  • Support the LFS Programme Development Manager in occasional translation support between Arabic and English.

Professional competencies

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience implementing food security and livelihoods projects or related projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Agriculture, Business, Social Sciences, or other related fields
  • Preferred experience from the humanitarian sector and working with private actors, along with knowledge of food security in Lebanon, the agri-food sector and interventions which can support  people’s food needs, including food assistance, protection and production
  • Demonstrated experience of conducting technical and vulnerability assessments, including market assessments
  • Demonstrated skills in training and mentoring others
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of the context in Lebanon
  • Knowledge and experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Experience of starting up new programmes and working in partnership
