Project Manager

Women Now for Development – Lebanon (WND) works with grass-root communities to promote women social and political participation. In the effort to better understand political participation from the localized and gender-specific perspective of particular displaced groups living in marginalized geography in Lebanon that is facing continuously changing dynamics, which include political, social, and economic ones. This geography, home to one of the largest Syrian refugee populations in the region, is an understudied one, and the political perspectives of its female population specifically, even more so. WND is implementing a project to promote social and political participation of women and Gender justice, in the partnership of Triple 11 and other local partners. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage the DGD Project in Lebanon under the supervision of the local Programs Manager, Country Director and WND Feminist Research Unit.

Coordinate between WND, Triple 11 and other Local partners.

Manage and deliver project work plans to required quality and deadlines.  

Provide quality assurance of project outputs/ deliverables and oversight to the short-term project activities and long-term project outcomes. 

Regular reporting to the Local Programs Manager.

Contribute to the technical design of project activities. 

Ensure delivery of projects against agreed budgets and provide timely invoicing and financial reporting.  

Provide oversight and take responsibility for project risks/day-to-day active management of risks/identification of project risks and highlighting options to line manager.  

Design and apply M&E tools to the project in coordination with the M&E officer.

Support the recruitment of in-country researchers, consultants and service providers in accordance toWND recruitment policy.

Manage outreach team activities.

Undertake any other tasks deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the project 

 

 

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of the Syrian context in general, and specifically Syrian civil society

• 4+ years’ experience working in either Rights-based NGOs, or Humanitarian NGOs

• Education in women's studies, social work, social sciences, other relevant fields (desirable)

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of gender-transformative justice, intersectionality, human rights, and broader structural issues surrounding violence against women and girls

• Experience in working on programs/projects specifically for women and/or adolescent girls

• Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Women Now’s values and strong motivation in putting them into practice.

 

 

Personal Skills

• Strong experience in project management, the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, pressure, and maintain attention to detail

• Knowledge and experience in developing Arabic language political participation, human rights, and gender training curriculums relevant to women in the Syrian context

• Experience in planning and executing training workshops and mentoring others

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams

• Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise the project team on their tasks in relation to the project

• Excellent problem-solving ability

• Good report writing skills and attention to detail

• A self-starter with an efficient and hard-working approach

• Dynamic, creative and driven

• Good Skills in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, as well as video communication platforms
