Social Media Listening Expert

Assignment: Individual expert to conduct a Social media listening exercise, of DRI’s online political talk show “Nafas Jdeed”, to gather data and issue an assessment report on “Nafas Jdeed” including recommendations to leverage the visibility of the show.

Assignment Type/Location: Hybrid, Lebanon.

Maximum Budget: Up to EUR 1,500.

DRI is looking for an experienced communications expert to conduct a social media listening exercise, by gathering data and drafting an assessment report on “Nafas Jdeed” online and offline status. The expert will monitor and analyse insights and metrics such as conversations, comments, views, and other data over several social media platforms, and identify the pitfalls and areas of improvement, to boost the presence of “Nafas Jdeed”, increase audience engagment, strengthen its market positioning amongst the online audience, and establish a leadership image across social media platforms.

 Background

  1. About DRI 

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.    

In the framework of its Lebanon project “Nafas Jdeed Season 2: Expanding the media discourse for political change around elections in Lebanon”, DRI is working on amplifying civil society voices, encourages critical thinking, and tackles mis- and disinformation by introducing a non-traditional media narrative that is original, intellectually accessible, and politically moderate.

  1. Assignment Overview

The individual expert is expected to monitor “Nafas Jdeed”’s online presence, revise its current communication strategies, executed plans, and their respective outcomes in terms of engaged audience to derive clear learnings from Season 1, which shall be used to enhance Season 2 and create a better place for DRI’s audience.

The outcome of the assignment should be based on a clear analysis to all online and offline metrics and insights that are related to Nafas Jdeed, that would help DRI Lebanon implement a brand management approach.

By the end of the assignment, DRI Lebanon should be equipped with a report that identifies the visibility status of Nafas Jdeed, pitfalls, and areas of improvement to make it a “show from the youth to the youth”. Moreover, the report should include marketing-communication techniques and tools to better interact with the audience, increase engagement levels, and build a community of advocates and supporters.

The objective is to boost Nafas Jdeed presence, strengthen its market positioning amongst the public, and establish a leadership image across several platforms and online political talk shows.

 

Your Tasks and Deliverables

DRI is interested in receiving applications from experienced communications specialists with proven track records.

Under the supervision of and in close coordination with DRI, the selected candidate will:

  • Gather online and offline data related to Nafas Jdeed online talk show;
  • Use social media listening tools or software to gather insights and comments from social media outlets, such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Tiktok;
  • Assess the strengths and shortcomings of Nafas Jdeed talk show and measure its popularity;
  • Mine data from online channels, such as the watching episodes’ time spent, click through rate, content sharing, comments, and text analytics to identify positive or negative emotions, on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Tiktok;
  • Filter, analyse, and visualize those data into charts and come up with concrete recommendations;
  • Conduct offline consultations and interviews with the different stakeholders including talk-show guests, random audience, and others involved directly or indirectly in the talk-show metrics;
  • Suggest new features and/or ideas to encourage the audience;
  • Draft a final report including recommendations to boost Nafas Jdeed presence, strengthen its market positioning amongst the public, and establish a leadership image across several platforms and online political talk shows;
  • Attend regular check-ins and review sessions with DRI internal staff to discuss recommendations and take stock of the progress made.

Your Skills and Experience

Applicants should demonstrate that they can fulfil the requested tasks and meet the following profile requirements:

  • An advanced university degree in mass communications, digital marketing, media studies, or other relevant fields;
  • At least 7 years of experience in strategic marketing-communications, social media management/analysis, and content creation;
  • Ability to produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner while understanding and anticipating the evolving needs of audiences;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly and under pressure utilising initiative;
  • Writing and working proficiency in Arabic and English.
