AND is operating safe spaces in Akkar (static and mobile) for women and adolescent girls. These spaces provide holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations.
Areas of Responsibilities:
Support to the field level including support to AND and its partners to ensure that adequate services are provided in accordance with SOP, and best practices, whereas the support to the management shall strengthen the organizational capacity in terms of protection streamlining and gender mainstreaming, within the organisation. In this respect, the specialist is required to ensure “quality control” of the specialized services provided in the centers. Thus, he/she is expected to work on the following two pillars:
Capacity strengthening
- Assessment of gaps and needs of the teams.
- Assessment of team members’ knowledge.
- Review of all principles of humanitarian work (i.e. do no harm, impartiality, neutrality…
- Review of all GBV core principles (i.e. confidentiality, privacy, security….)
- Provision of guidance/training and workshops when needed.
- Review of curricula/training material, and/or guidance documents to ensure compliance with gender and GBV core concepts.
Gender mainstreaming
The primary task of the specialist will be to ensure the strategic direction of activities, coordinate the operational activities, monitor outputs, provide analysis for formulation of strategies and briefings to management
- Define main Gender concepts (Gender vs Sex, Gender Roles, Gender Discrimination, Gender Inequality, Gender Equality, Intersectionality, Men Engagement, Women Empowerment).
- Introduction to Gender mainstreaming.
- Mainstreaming Gender in a project.
Reporting
The provider of services shall report to the Project Manager.
