Social Worker & Coach

Under the direct supervision of the PSS program Manager, the Social Worker will be in charge of screening, identifying and following up on PSS and CP cases in schools/ centers. S/he will support teachers in identifying, assessing and following up on all PSS and CP identified needs/case on site; ensure that Protection and PSS principles are understood, maintained and enforced; identify families and learners’ problems and difficulties and support them; elaborate, follow and evaluate the social project with the concerned families/ learners.

Duties and responsibilities

The Social Worker will perform frequent field visits to schools/centers.

The tasks and responsibilities can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

Identification of the most vulnerable people in need

  • Support field teams during field visits in order to identify cases, understand the environment and apply follow-up.
  • Ensure case assessment including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the child and their family’s well-being.

Assessment of learners and follow-up and ensuring social support

  • Assess the needs of the learners and their families giving particular attention to protection and psycho-social concerns.
  • Establish a file for each case (learner/family) to document the family situation, plan of intervention, follow-up, and updates.
  • Monitor and follow up on the outcome of the assistance provided.
  • Train, coach, and monitor the development and empowerment of teachers to provide the social support needed by the identified cases and to facilitate integration and adaptation.
     

Reporting and Coordination

  • Share the elaborated action plan resulting from the needs assessment.
  • Provide periodical reports to the Program Manager.
  • Coordinate and facilitate contact with local organizations to collaborate and maintain confidential shared information and data.
     

Referrals and Pathways

  • Provide the needed support and basic counselling to identified cases.
  • Manage referrals and follow-ups for specialized support and CP cases.
  • Document and update the referral pathways for all cases.

 

Qualifications

Fluent in English and good command of Arabic (speaking, reading, writing).

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent

Minimum of 3 years of working with children.

Experience in working with refugees is a plus.

Ability to communicate and to listen
