SOCIAL WORKER/CASE MANAGER - SUPPORT OF MIGRANT WORKERS AND COUNTER-TRAFFICKING PROGRAMS

Background

Amel program for the support of Migrant Workers and Counter-Trafficking was established in 2011 to alleviate exploitation, discrimination, violence and trafficking. Efforts are produced to ensure more human relationship between the employer and the employee based on rights and duties. Protection is strived through advocacy, coordination, empowerment, awareness raising, action-based research, voluntary return, provision of services (social, health, psycho-social and legal services), emergency response and coordination with countries of origin. The program succeeded to support so far thousands of beneficiaries from different African and South East countries. Activities are conducted in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and the South, as well as on an international level in coordination with Arab and European countries.

 

The full-time position is under supervision of the Program Coordinator, Field Coordinator, Head of Center, Amel Administration and Finance, and in close collaboration with Amel Workers, MWs Team, and the teams in the centers.

 

The position of Social Worker is a key position to coordinate and implement the activities of the program supporting Migrant Workers and Counter-Trafficking through Amel centers, and in collaboration with various stakeholders (NGOs, Governmental Organization, INGOs, Community leaders, other), to protect and empower this vulnerable population. This position entails social support and coordination with team members for the support of the beneficiaries, within ethical boundaries, and in accordance to International Human Rights Guidelines.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tasks and duties

 

Task #1 - Responsible of the implementation of program activities

Support the Rights of Migrant workers by handling the daily follow up on the project’s activities in the field, and ensuring that the technical aspects of the project are running in accordance with the project’s objectives and strategies.

Ensure smooth implementation, harmonization and effective use of the available resources

 

Task #2 - Implementation of the Program activities in Amel centers and the field for the realization of:

  • Lead on the service provision and case management of vulnerable migrant files
  • Follow up on hotlines and channels of communication with migrant communities and partners
  • Registering and assessing the vulnerabilities of migrant workers
  • Data entry and analysis into the database
  • Relevant follow-up in provision of services based on case analysis
  • Support on the provision of servies: Social, legal, empowerment, distribution of emergency items, cash and voluntary return
  • Support on providing awareness raising activities on a variety of topics
  • Support on organizing and coordinating events that support the advocacy process
  • Optimal and time efficient implementation of activities and provision of services that needs to be coordinated with the team
  • Respect and ensure confidentiality of personal data and appropriate management of sensitive cases
  • Conducting house visits when necessary
  • Attending meetings with partners and following up on tasks on a national level
  • Attending and organizing national and regional conferences/workshops
  • Writing and typing correspondence in English and Arabic
  • Propose modifications or corrective actions when needed
  • Report to the field and program coordinators all relevant information for a sound appraisal of implantation of the activities in conformity with the strategy and Amel vision
  • Establish contacts with the implementing partners in the field
  • Looking for opportunities of growth of Amel and sustainability of funds
  • Dealing with a wide spectrum of donors and partners
  • Conduct other tasks for the support of Amel mission and programs
  • Other related activities for the success of the program in serving the targeted population

 

Task #3 - Human Resources management

Coordinate with the team in the field for sound implementation of activities, mainly social workers, teachers, head of centers, beneficiaries, community leaders, and employers and coordinate with lawyer, psychotherapist, trainers, doctors, nurses, among others.

Follow-up with interns or volunteers if needed

Collect vouchers and expenses receipts and transmit them to Amel Administrative Department.

 

Task #4 - Reporting

  • Prepare weekly progress reports and other relevant documents, as established by the monitoring and evaluation officer, to be sent to the field and program coordinator, in coordination with the head of center and field finance officer
  • Conduct regular field visits to the targeted communities and strengthen relation with the migrants of various nationalities
  • Contribute to the project’s Technical and Financial Reporting.
  • Support in proposal writing when needed
  • Ensuring documentation of events in close coordination with the communication department to ensure visibility
  • Ensure proper and timely documentation of the services provided and close communication with field coordinator and monitoring and evaluation officer
  • Financial management
  • Manage expenses according to the budget, under the supervision of the Field and Program coordinators in accordance to Finance and procurement departments’ regulations
  • Report expenses forecasts and needs
  • Other related activities for the success of the program in serving the targeted population

Bachelor’s Degree Field of education: Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Human Rights, Political Studies, Public Administration, Law degree, Sociology, Project Management, or another relevant field.

SKILLS:
- Previous experience in case management is a must
- Experience in coordination and team work is mandatory
- Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills
- Experience in projects related to Migrant Workers is a plus
- Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT…)
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
