CONTEXT
MSF Lebanon Branch like the other 20 MSF offices across the globe is part of the MSF international movement. MSF Lebanon branch office is mainly located in Beirut with a satellite team in Egypt, coexist and collaborate with operations activities in both countries.From Lebanon and Egypt, we work regionally and contribute globally to MSF’s medical humanitarian response in their emergency and regular responses and interventions all over the world.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The Intern will be part of the Humanitarian Representation Team (HRT) in the Middle East. The Intern will learn by supporting the MSF International Representative in the Middle East and his/her deputy in some aspects of advocacy and humanitarian diplomacy activities for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
SCOPE OF POTENTIAL TASKS
The HRT Intern will be responsible of:
- Researching organizations and potential advocacy targets to assist the HRT in developing relevant networks in support of MSF operational needs in the Middle East.
- Conducting research and preparing dossiers on key issues or contexts in support of advocacy and networking activities as needed.
- Monitoring and tracking specific issues as assigned to ensure adequate follow-up.
- Drafting formal correspondence, including meeting requests and following up on letters to external contacts.
- Attending meetings, internal and external, upon request and rapidly writing up minutes and/or meeting reports to ensure timely feedback to the HDT and MSF operations.
- Editing or drafting reports, speaking points and other documents upon request.
- Setting up and maintaining a database of external contacts.
- Organizing external meetings with advocacy targets from the United Nations, NGOs, Red Cross/Red Crescent movement and other actors in Lebanon and abroad.
- Following up over time on specific executive dossiers and related progresses and development as assigned by the MSF International Representative in the Middle East and drawing up working papers/ discussion papers for the various meetings when needed.
- Any other task upon request from the MSF International Representative in the Middle East, such as reading papers, research articles, reports and writing summaries/ commentaries.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Recently graduated or in his/her final University year.
Competences
- Knowledge of international and humanitarian affairs.
- Fluent in Arabic and English
- Strong organizational.
- Other competences: team player, diligent, good listener, detail oriented, clear communicator.
Good command of Microsoft Office, Spreadsheet and Database.
CONDITIONS
- 6 months full time internship (possibility of 3 months extension), based in Hamra, Beirut.
