Research Assistant

The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut is looking for a Research Assistant to join the Academy division.

The Research Assistant will assist the research team in conducting research activities for the Evaluation of the Capacity Building Component (eCAP), under the Academy division of the Global Health Institute. This will include evaluating the effectiveness of innovative learning modalities applied in capacity building initiatives.

This will entail the following responsibilities: 

  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative data 
  • Transcribing and / or translating qualitative transcripts 
  • Managing the database of all collected data 
  • Conducting data analysis of qualitative and quantitative data 
  • Preparing manuscripts and annual reports 
  • Assisting in overall project implementation and documentation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field 
  • At least 2 years of experience in conducting research activities such as collecting data (interviews or focus groups or surveys), analyzing data, and / or writing manuscripts. Previous publications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in good scientific writing 
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Arabic and English 
  • Advanced scientific writing skills
  • Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation is a plus
