Finance Assistant

Society for Social Support and Education (SSSE) is looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to join its team in Beirut.

The Society for Social Support and Education (SSSE) #1503 was founded in Beirut, Lebanon in August 2019 to provide a wide range of services to underprivileged with special focus on educational initiatives that are designed to brighten the minds, careers and futures of school- age children. Prior to 2019, great effort and hard work was put into establishing the educational centers and recruiting the students as well as generating funds. This was achieved through relentless work of a group of ladies and the generous donations of many friends, charities and individual donors, thus began the road to what we have now.

 

The finance assistant will work closely with the Project Manager. The position includes processing payments, updating financial records, and managing invoices.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should have strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organizational skills, and working knowledge of accounting software. Ultimately, the candidate should have integrity, excellent mathematical skills, and an understanding of data privacy standards.

 

Responsibilities:
 Receiving and and following up on invoices.
 Ensuring invoices and vouchers abide by SSSE standards.
 Processing and preparing financial statements.
 Collecting and reviewing data for reports.
 Reviewing audits on financial statements and reports.
 Closely working with the Project Manager on budget creation and implementation.
 Reporting discrepancies.
 Preparing payments for employees.
 Support in the procurement process (collecting quotations, supporting in the preparation
of the evaluation report, preparing contracts…).
 Ensuring the existence of the needed supporting documents before making any payment.
 Suggesting improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and reducing costs.

 

Finance Assistant Requirements:
 Degree in accounting or finance.
 Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and other accounting software.
 Strong knowledge of bookkeeping.
 Good organizational skills.
 Strong analytical skills.
 Detail-oriented.
 Good time management skills.

 Previous work experience with an l/NGO is an added advantage
