GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ICRC’s Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) is aimed at ensuring access to appropriate physical rehabilitation services, including mobility devices and physiotherapy. ICRC assistance in this area is designed to help create or strengthen high-quality national services and to make them accessible, and sustainable. The ICRC PRP supports people with disabilities worldwide to play a full part in society. This includes facilitating the setting up of small businesses, providing vocational training and promoting sport.
OBJECTIVES AND TASKS
Main Responsibilities (90%):
- Promotes best practice in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) Physical Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) team and is actively involved in the delivery of services.
- Participates to the devices production by taking part of each step of the rehabilitation cycle for each PRP users, supervises the quality of production with the Prosthetist-Orthotist expatriate (mobile) and the head of LRC-PRC Aley workshop.
- Participates in the multidisciplinary consultations for patient assessments and treatment prescriptions with the LRC-PRC clinicians. Within this scope support technical and clinical staff to perform systematic quality control procedure
- Organizes, coordinates assessments and treatment appointments with LRC-PRC clinicians and PRC responsible staff.
- Ensure quality of services provided by the LRC-PRC center that apply international Prosthetic and Orthotic standards
- Inform the beneficiary and the caregiver on the importance of the rehabilitation to improve his/her physical situation and the different steps to follow to achieve it.
- Update patient lists, files, treatment records and contributes in internal ICRC reporting for Mount Lebanon.
- Ensures the implementation of the ICRC Physiotherapy and Ortho-prosthetics standards including wheelchair service provision in collaboration with the respective partners.
- Participates in field trips, establishing links with communities and promoting Social Inclusion activities (When required)
- Performs initial evaluation of patient and families for vulnerability in relation to ICRC criteria of admission for physical rehabilitation services. Facilitates, educates and refers relatives of vulnerable patients to understand possibilities of financial coverages through humanitarian actors.
- Contributes to deliver training and coaching based on ICRC internal guidelines and internationally validated recommendations.
- Ensure the implementation of the patient management system with the partners.
- Follow up all Logistic and supply chain management for LRC PRC project, assuring that Distribution Tracking Package is completed, and follow up on the stock position.
- On time development of Annual Order (CDP), ad-hoc Local Orders, LRC stock management and supervision including the stock physical counting on quarterly basis.
- On the job practical training to bench workers and support mobile staff for translation regarding the bench workers training.
Emergency response (10%):
- In case of a sudden onset emergency, is responsible of making himself/herself available to uptake any task as required by his/her line manager and the PRP Manager.
- Is the primary interlocutor of the technical team working at the LRC Physical Rehabilitation Center.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Years of experience required: 2 to 4 years of total work experience in ortho-prosthetic
(2 years of previous NGOs experience would be an additional asset)
- Good experience in rehabilitation of people with lower limb amputation, experience in provision of Prosthetic and Orthotic services, experience in working in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
- Excellent knowledge of the Beirut & Mount Lebanon area.
Level of education: Bachelor’s degree
Field of education: Ortho-prosthetic
Languages: Arabic and English both written and spoken. French is an asset
Computer Literacy: Proficient use of Microsoft Office Package
Training: Capacity building and training related experience
