MHPSS Officer

The Popular Aid for Relief and Development (PARD) is an independent grassroots organization working on gender equality and women’s empowerment, child protection, youth empowerment, environmental health, and relief for people in distress among Palestinian and Lebanese communities and refugees from Syria.

PARD is committed to fulfilling child rights in protection against abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence as contained in the United Nations Convention on the Child Rights and other human rights agreements.

Job Purpose: Support the implementation of the child protection project and education plans for refugee children in cooperation with the project coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategy of intervention, in direct collaboration with the technical team and other staff;
  • Oversee the capacity building, monitoring, quality-assuring, and evidence-building in the projects with regards to MHPSS.
  • Technical follow-up of the project and teams to ensure compliance of the activities to technical guidelines provided by MHPSS TC and international standards in MHPSS
  • Direct management and monitoring of project activities and implementation, in close collaboration with logistics, administrative, and finance departments.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the project and its re-orientation when needed;
  • Support the project coordinator to plan and implement the project
  • Support the project coordinator in updating planning documents
  • When possible, participation in the relevant local cluster, coordination, or working group meetings
  • Support the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual (final) reports in English.
  • Provide internal reporting to the project manager and MHPSS TC according to Dorcas internal tools
  • Support in the reporting for the donors
  • Ability to conduct a primary assessment of a person’s needs including mental health needs and refer people in need of mental health support/treatment to the proper mental health professional within the CP's mental health unit.
  • Fill the out intake form for each beneficiary accessing the PSS services.
  • Effectively assess and support persons in crisis.
  • Provide appropriate psycho-social support including psychoeducation to beneficiaries when needed and their families.
  • Coordinate with the coordinator team for the implementation of all PSS interventions and activities.

Requirements:

  • BA in Psychology, social sciences, counseling,  or any related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related work preferably a background in psychology 
  • Understand and comply with the Child Protection and PSEA Policy
  • Ability to work within a team
  •  Excellent Arabic and English Language
  • Basic computer literacy is mandatory (e.g: excel, word, mailbox / communication)
