DRI Lebanon is looking for an experienced illustrator (individual expert consultant) to create a cartoon character representing NGO Democracy Reporting International in Lebanon and illustrations that are related to DRI’s awareness and advocacy work about political reform in Lebanon.
Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes the political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies, and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.
DRI is empowering civic actors, particularly women and youth to participate in the political process and is engaging civic and public actors in political and legal reform to advance a good governance agenda.
In this framework, DRI Lebanon is looking for an experienced illustrator to create a cartoon character representing NGO Democracy Reporting International in Lebanon and illustrations that are related to DRI’s awareness and advocacy work about political reform in Lebanon. The cartoon character helps DRI deliver creative, relatable, citizen-centric, and highly digestible messages to its audience on topics that are related to political reform, gender and diversity, and youth’s active participation in the political field. The illustrations are part of DRI’s communications strategy and should follow DRI’s branding/visual identity.
The character will be used on social media platforms in several sizes and formats, in addition to integrating the character into DRI’s visual materials. The character will become the sole property of DRI, along with every open format visual created during the consultancy period.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of DRI’s Communications team, the expert will:
- Create a cartoon character representing DRI, in line with DRI’s visual identity;
- Create various types of illustrations (coloured/uncoloured, stills, 5-second animations).
Your Skills & Experience
- A university degree in graphic design, visual communication, or other relevant fields;
- At least 5 years of experience in comics design;
- A compelling illustration portfolio;
- Outstanding creativity and out-of-the-box thinking;
- Ability to understand DRI’s mission, vision, and values;
- Ability to design relatable, citizen-centric, and highly digestible illustrations that reflect DRI’s areas of work;
- Ability to adapt DRI’s visual identity and branding guidelines into the design;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines;
- Working proficiency in Arabic.
