ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in development and emergency settings.
As part of its current restructuring process in alignment with its Three-Years Country Plan (2023/2025), ABAAD is recruiting specialists for its new Model Centers for multidisciplinary Holistic Care to Combat GBV in Lebanon in different regions around the country.
Job Title: Policies and Public Affairs Coordinator
Location: Beirut, Lebanon
JOB PURPOSE:
The Policies and Public Affairs Coordinator will assist with efforts to raise the visibility of ABAAD at the local, regional and international level, and to increase public support, interest, and funding for the mission of the ABAAD through coordinated communications and advocacy strategies. This is a dynamic position utilizing a wide array of interpersonal, public speaking, writing, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft ABAAD’s Annual Report and quarterly newsletter and ensure their online dissemination
- Work in coordination with the media and communications team to draft and translate press releases and other organizational communications (internal and external)
- Build relationships with new media contacts and maintain relationships with existing contacts
- Serve as a first contact person for all media queries
- Assist in maintaining ABAAD’s online media platforms (website, Facebook, Twitter, etc) and ensure that information is posted regularly and correctly.
- Promote the worth of ABAAD’s reputation via different online and offline channels to develop ABAAD regionally and globally (research appropriate speaking engagements for executive staff to promote the work and mission of ABAAD, Awards, Call for Proposals, International Conferences and Forums etc…)
- Manage VIP visits and handle protocol and logistics
- Track, analyze and assist in the implementation of the media coverage of campaigns and advocacy programs
- Organize, schedule, and prepare key personnel for press interviews
- Monitor and analyze effectiveness of campaigns and communicate insights to management using regular reporting
- Provide effective crisis management solutions in the times of need
- Ensure all communication is cohesive with the organization’s image
- Organize, oversee and Represent ABAAD in events such as meetings, seminars, conferences and build relationships with different stakeholders.
- Travel and represent ABAAD at regional or global meetings as needed.
- Coordinate follow-up outreach to key individuals and organizations the Director will be meeting with while on business travel.
- Draft and edit correspondence as requested
- Helping conducting background research in preparation for external meetings, and assistance with preparation and execution of high level meetings and conferences
Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Public Relations, Public Affairs or corporate communications
- Excellent organization skills o Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively o Strong working knowledge of a variety of public relations programs o Strong oral and written communication skills o Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English, French is a plus o Proven ability to develop, implement, and execute successful campaigns o Commitment to human rights, gender equality, non-discrimination o Flexible pro-active attitude
- Ability to work well as an individual and in a team o Ability to manage an unpredictable workload in a challenging environment
