Technical Expert / Agricultural Economist m/f/d (service contract)* - Part Time

The work location is formally Beirut. Frequent visits to partner organizations in the Bekaa are foreseen.

The position is to be filled by December 19, 2022, The type of Contract will be a Consultancy Contract (Service Contract) The  service location will be Beirut Lebanon. The position is paid according to SG7 [[paygrade]].

The Standard working hours for the Technical Expert are 75%; i.e. 30 hours a week on 5 days (on average). Working days are Monday till Friday.

The objective of this position is to deliver high quality advice to the WHH management, and to the implementing partners and to make sure that the best possible solutions for the project are identified and realized.

Your responsibilities

Developing a guide to sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices of wheat & cereals

Assessing implementing partners’ agricultural marketing expertise and supporting them in designing a program that aims to strengthen local farmers and producers’ capacities.

Supporting implementing partners in the development of technical support programs (based on GAP, GMP, and GHP) for farmers and agro food processors.

Monitoring the agricultural tests (Soil test, pesticide residue test, etc.)

Supporting the design and oversee the implementation of the incubator and fumigation center and its production system.

Defining a set of livelihood interventions for the project beneficiaries (producers/farmers/processors) taking into consideration the established incubator and the fumigation center.

Providing technical support for our implementing partners in the development and implementation of the cooperative-business and technical support program.

Support in the design and monitor the assessments to be conducted by partners in the target areas.

Provide continuous technical assistance to partner organizations to improve production (both qualitative and quantitative), post-harvesting and processing techniques.

Support partner organization to improve the business skills of targeted value chain producers as per project design.

Support in the design and implementation of any assessment for the related value chains.

Undertake field visits to implementation sites (Baalbak, Taanayel, Chouf, and south areas) in coordination with the partners

Supporting the head of project in reviewing the economic impact of the programme.

Supporting MEAL with technical guidance needed for the project’s PIM;

Preparing appropriate reports and presentations.

Your profile

Master of Science degree in agricultural economics, with at least 3 years work experience in agro-economical related fields. Alternatively: Bachelor degree or diploma in agricultural engineering with at least 7 years of experience in agro-economy. Having experience of managing incubators is a PLUS.

Extensive knowledge of the modern practices in wheat & cereal farming and value chain

Experience in agro-processing is a must

Must be computer literate

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
