Organizational Context

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (“the Federation”) is the world’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network with 192 member National Societies.  As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, our work is guided by seven fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

The overall aim of the IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.”  The IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during, and after disasters, health emergencies, and other crises.

The IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of the IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

The MENA Regional Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, Reporting and Quality Assurance (PMERQA) Unit is to strengthen the quality monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning, and knowledge management to enhance programme quality in humanitarian and development efforts, supporting them to remain partners of choice within their country and sustainable and accountable for their actions, providing sustainable results for people in need in line with S2030 and IFRC Plan and Budget 2025. The PMER shall ensure the development of good monitoring and evaluation practices in 17 National Societies and ensure global IFRC/Movement standards for accountability and evidence-based informed management throughout the project cycle.

 

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the MENA PMERQA Head of the unit, the CEA/PMER intern will support the Regional PMERQA team with several administrative tasks related to events. Support standardization of reports developed, and other PMER-related tasks as needed.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The CEA/PMER Intern’s role is to:

  • Support with administrative tasks related to events and workshops
  • Support with the translation of documents
  • Support with the report development and management of reporting calendar
  • Support with maintaining the Quality of reports to meet the standards set by the IFRC PMERQA Team
  • Support with CEA & PMER related tasks as per the need

 

Support that will be provided for the intern

  • The CEA/PMER Intern will receive the following:
  • Experience in IFRC and RCRC Movement CEA & PMER approach
  • Experience with IFRC and RCRC Movement working modalities, policies, and technical standards
  • Experience with IFRC procedures and technical standards in emergency contexts

 

Duties applicable to all staff

  • Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals 
  • Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager

 

Education

  • University degree in Political Science, administration, Public Health, Translation, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Studies, or other relevant areas of study. -Required

 

Experience

  • 1+ years of working and management experience in the area of expertise. -Required
  • Demonstrated experience in report development and design -Required
  • Demonstrated experience in the International Federation or an organization within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, or in an international organization or NGO -Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Languages

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment -Required
  • Good communication, negotiation, and management skills -Required
  • Focused on quality and standards -Required

 

LANGUAGES:

Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English -Required
Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish) -Preferred
