Freelance Position Offer - Digital Communication Specialist

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s worldwide cultural institute. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and cultivate international cultural cooperation.  

The Goethe-Institut Libanon is implementing since 2019 the project FANTASMEEM, which is part of the global project “Cultural and Creative Industries.” The aim of FANTASMEEM is to support the design industry in Lebanon through targeted capacity building, fostering cultural, social, and environmental entrepreneurship, and encouraging collaborations and knowledge sharing.

We are looking for a Digital Communication Specialist to work as a freelancer for FANTASMEEM project, starting from March 2023 until November 2023.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Familiarization with the content, structure and needs of FANTASMEEM project and its activities
• Create and Implement an effective communication and outreach strategy to raise awareness on the project's programs and activities through different online and offline channels
• Fine-tune the project’s social media profile to increase the reach of FANTASMEEM’s content (existing & new) and implement this strategy on an ongoing basis
• Develop new ideas and concepts and implement innovative tools that can help increase visibility
• Develop interactive online tools to engage the community of designers in Lebanon and support the team to reach and address the creative scenes in Lebanon
• Write and create content for posts in close coordination with the FANTASMEEM team
• Combine relevant social media activities of FANTASMEEM with those of other related projects of the Goethe-Institut
• Research and suggest relevant content for the different social media series and other communication efforts of FANTASMEEM (mainly to give exposure and visibility for designers)
• Support in updating the content of FANTASMEEM webpage with news on project activities and with materials produced within the project
• Regularly report on the performance of the communication tools and social media campaigns and give recommendations on how to improve outreach and visibility for both projects
• Attend and cover the in-person events by taking professional pictures and video content  
• Create and edit video materials for social media and internal communication purposes, when needed

REQUIREMENTS

• At least three years of professional experience in the communication sector with a focus on online communication,
• Proven experience in developing and successfully implementing online outreach strategies, 
• Advanced knowledge of social media platforms to analyze, broaden audience reach and improve engagement with shared content
• Knowledge of the Cultural and Creative Industries and design scene in Lebanon is a plus
• Experience in taking professional pictures and video-editing to create proper content
• Proficiency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written (good enough to write content and captions for activities)
• Must be based in Lebanon

FANTASMEEM is part of the global project “Cultural and Creative Industries.”

The project “Cultural and Creative Industries” is implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. It improves employment and income opportunities for creative professionals in six partner countries; Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa and operates mainly in the music, fashion, design and animation sectors. In addition to promoting the development of entrepreneurial, digital, creative and technical skills through training programmes, the project aims to strengthen the framework conditions and the ecosystem of the cultural and creative industries.
