MEAL Assistant Consultant

Position Summary

The MEAL Assistant consultant will be responsible to support data collection, monitoring, and learning of the project(s). She/he will be in regular contact with the project team to monitor the collection of data and ensure accuracy and timeliness. Furthermore, she/he will contribute to learning activities and project implementation and assist the MEAL team in reporting.

The MEAL Assistant consultant will support monitoring activity progress according to project indicators and tracking the implementation of quality improvement measures. The MEAL Assistant  consultant will assist the MEAL Office in designing, updating and implementing monitoring and evaluation tools that, in coordination with the monitoring activities, aim to ensure that the project maintains its strategic vision and that its activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a timely manner.

S/he will work under the direct supervision of the MEAL Officer and in close coordination with the MEAL Manager, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Project Officers. The incumbent for this position will be based in Beirut, Lebanon and will be required to work in remote settings.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The position holder will more specifically have the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support in the facilitation of learning activities and development of learning products.
  • Assist in identifying and synthesizing good practices and lessons learned.
  • Participate in the development of the appropriate systems and processes for data collection, data entry and management.
  • Support the management of reporting processes and suggested ways of facilitating data collection and flow within the teams.
  • Support recording, reporting, and analyzing data as against indicators.
  • Assist in maintaining a database of project outputs, outcomes, and results.
  • Assist in the accurate recording, documenting, and coordinating of project information for the benefit inform project staff.
  • Support the programme teams with timely programme implementation and maintain quality of M&E related deliverables.
  • Assist to undertake data collection and field monitoring as required.
  • Assist with the conduct of household interviews, phone interviews, pre/post testing, focus group discussions, and community visits.
  • Assist with field visits as per need ensuring the quality and accuracy of the data collected by the project staff.
  • Assist to conduct satisfactory Focus Group Discussions with participants during field visits.
  • Assist with the Design, development and management of databases, spreadsheets, and other data tools.
  • Provide activity reports and support the programme and MEAL team in donors’ reports.
  • Provide full and detailed feedback to the field on reporting problems and solutions.
  • Provide advice on assessments designed to ensure data quality and manage platforms and tools that support data collection and analysis such as KoBo Toolbox and google form.

 

Required Profile  

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in research methodologies, social sciences, or any related field;

Experience and Qualifications

  • One (1) to two (2) years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies and reporting with experience in the field of M&E in Peacebuilding programs as an advantage;
  • At least two (2) years of field-based data collection and analysis experience;
  • Proven experience of using qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis tools;
  • Knowledge of participatory methods, mixed methods, outcome mapping, and/or impact evaluation techniques;
  • A collaborative working style that enables coaching and training in M&E principles and best-practices;
  • Demonstrated capacity to coordinate evaluations, including experience developing evaluation terms of reference and recruiting and managing consultants;
  • Knowledge of data software such as KoBo Toolbox, google forms, SPSS;
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills;
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and ability to work in diverse workplace environments; and
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and organize workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
