Are you a skilled programme manager with flair for theology? Or a skilled theologian with flair for programme management? In both cases you may be the person we are looking for as Danmission’s new Programme Manager on contextual theology for faith and social action in MENA.
As a programme manager you help and facilitate our partners to implement projects in MENA region. You will be part of a team of programme managers at our regional office located in Beirut, Lebanon. You will be in charge of our cooperation with MENA partners working on issues related to faith, hope, resilience, stewardship, and social action for sustainable development in MENA.
About the job
Some key tasks will include guiding partners in Danmission’s methodologies within all steps of the project cycle, writing reports, monitoring projects, and developing new project opportunities. An important part of the job will be to facilitate a newly established Forum on Contextual Theology for Faith and Social Action in Lebanon. The forum is ecumenical and includes participants from different university backgrounds, church backgrounds and church-based organisations. You will also be responsible for both developing and implementing other Danmission projects together with our MENA-partners.
The programme manager builds and maintains relationships with our partners and refers directly to the Regional Director for management and guidance. Cooperation with other colleagues who are either at the office, or who are working on similar activities in other Danmission offices, is a great opportunity for inspiration. Further quality assurance and guidance can be sought from the senior thematic advisors at our headquarters in Denmark.
The position is full time (48 hours per week) at the Danmission Regional Office in Beirut. Travel in the region (Egypt, Jordan and maybe also Syria and Iraq) is expected. The initial contract period is 1 year with opportunity for renewal once per year, depending on performance. The first 6 months serve as a probation period.
About you
You have at least a master’s degree in theology, social science, development studies or similar. You have several years of experience in working with development projects and programmes with Christian/faith-based partners.
You have experience and efficiency in programme cycle management on a human rights-based approach incl. knowledge of Monitoring Evaluation and Learning, and financial management. You can work both with communities and grassroots groups as well as religious leaders, and theological experts and practitioners. You have excellent writing and editing skills in Arabic and excellent oral and written English language skills.
As a person you can work in an intercultural and ecumenical environment, and you have strong interpersonal communication and networking skills. Regardless of your own church background, you are able to represent Danmission among different theological actors. You are able to create supportive relationships with partners and stakeholders.
You have a high personal integrity and honesty and are committed to sound and transparent management standards. You are flexible, willing to perform other duties and on occasion to work irregular hours. And you are able and willing to work in Lebanon and travel to Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq.
