Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.
In the framework of its Lebanon project “A bottom-up reform agenda for Lebanon: Supporting youth, women, and civil society actors to expand civic space”, DRI will fund and support the implementation of small projects by CSOs at the local community level in five selected regions. The small grants, which DRI will provide, will support devising locally owned solutions to local problems based on a jointly developed community action plan.
To this end, DRI is recruiting a project cycle management expert to deliver two full-day training workshops to five different CSOs. It aims at understanding project cycles from its initiation to its closure phases, MEL tools, and enhance reporting skills in compliance with DRI’s partnership guidelines in terms of narrative and financial reporting.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of DRI’s Field Coordinator, the Expert will:
- Develop interactive and detailed training modules, a training session plan, and all accompanying background materials (1 expert day);
- Deliver two full-day training workshop to five local CSOs (1 expert day for the project management training and 1 expert day for the MEL training in August 2023), following an interactive, engaging approach, e.g., discussion activities, exercises, role plays (two expert days in total);
- Prepare pre- and post-training test modules to be shared with the participants before and after the training sessions, once validated by DRI;
- Once each training is completed, submit a training report summarising the training outcomes and the pre-post tests results, and reflecting the trainees’ increase in knowledge as per the template provided by DRI (1 expert day).
Your Skills & Experience
- A university degree in management, business development, or relevant fields;
- At least 7 years of experience in project cycle management with non-profits and/or international donor organisations;
- Solid practical knowledge and command of MEL tools and frameworks;
- A relevant Project Management certification is an asset;
- Strong training skills in related topics using interactive methods;
- Working proficiency in Arabic and English.
