Project Officer

I.Project Background Information

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 and had started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). 

LRI is currently planning to start the implementation of SHABAKE 2 project with Expertise France in South Lebanon, focused on improving livelihoods of farmers in Tyr region and enhancing their access to food security through adoption of agroforestry farming systems and focusing on improving Freekeh and Zaatar value chains.

II. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Project Officer at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the project cycle supervision and management. S/he applies the project officer principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely information to LRI Project Manager and LRI Project Director, and ensures the project officer procedures. 

The Project Officer is expected to perform the below duties:  

• Support in the development of a detailed implementation plan with timeline.
• Coordinate with the fields Officers to ensure proper implementation of activities. 
• Draft progress reports to be reviewed by project manager. 
• Conduct periodic site visits to check on work progress and work quality. 

• Coordinate when needed with municipalities to ensure smooth implementation. 
• Support the project manager in project-related tasks and coordinate with donors during project manager’s absence. 
• Report all achievements, issues, accidents, etc. on site to the Project Manager
• Assist in the trainings’ preparations and coordination.

III. REQUIREMENTS 

The Project Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience: 

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree required in Business Management, Agriculture, Project management or related field.
• Experience in Freekeh & Zaatar Value chain.
• More than 3 years of experience in project cycle management work. 

• Experience working with Lebanese rural communities is a plus. 
• Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills. 
• Excellent reporting and presentation skills. 

• Willingness to travel outside Beirut. 
• knowledge in AutoCAD is a plus.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
