RFP for Website Upgrades and Maintenance

The Anera communications team hired a firm to redesign and migrate our 900+ page site to Wordpress in 2016, with a rebranding skin change in 2018. The primary focus during its creation was on the desktop version, with less priority put on the mobile experience. The result is that the desktop version works well and looks good, but the mobile version has been plagued by issues over the years.

At the same time, we have seen the share of visitors from mobile devices go up significantly. Over half of our visitors are now coming from mobile, but the dysfunction of the experience means that we are losing opportunities to engage those visitors in a meaningful way. Our goal is to improve the mobile experience so that visitors spend more time on the site, share more, sign up for email and donate. 

We are also seeing more people accessing our Arabic content on the site. Although only a limited amount of content is currently available, we will be expanding this throughout the year. Improving the user experience while browsing the Arabic side of the website is therefore a priority. Ensuring a seamless experience when donating through our donor portal and working with our donation management vendor (EveryAction/Bonterra) needs particular attention.. 

Scope of Work

Below you will find details on the work we are requesting. Please note that we encourage any new and different ideas you may have to help us improve.

Near term 

Work within the current Wordpress structure and templates and improve the functionality of anera.org (English and Arabic) on mobile devices.

Conduct an audit of the site to identify and fix issues such as broken links, slow load times, layout problems and architecture misalignments.

Improve the functionality and appearance of anera.org/?lang=ar on desktop.

Find creative ways to make the website more interactive without sacrificing load times (videos, moving graphics, etc.)

Provide feedback on current accessibility and implement solutions to make the website more accessible for all users.

Long term  

Be on retainer to provide immediate service when issues with the site arise.

Make occasional, small changes to the site as required.
