Job Summary

The Agriculture Engineer Consultant will provide technical expertise and recommendations on the design adaptation of the project and the implementation of its activities. S/he will support the Project Coordinator in monitoring the overall context in the sector for the timely change and adaptation of the project activities and risk mitigation. S/he will support in all aspects of project management including coordination with all project stakeholders, in order to ensure agreed objectives are effectively met and in a timely manner.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and support to ongoing Agriculture and Agro-processing projects under the guidance of the Project Coordinator all over Lebanon.
• Support the project team in planning and implementing project activities to meet project deliverables based on the timeline and scope agreed upon with the donor.
• Participate in analyzing the context to adapt and modify the project activities to meet the objectives and mitigate risks.
• He/she will be conducting training to beneficiaries, cooperatives and small businesses for the activities of the project and to improve their agriculture skills and knowledge.
• Visit sites to observe and monitor agriculture activities and supervise Agro-processing operations.
• Coordination meetings and awareness sessions with cooperatives and individuals to ensure best practices and constant follow-up on activities.

Experience required

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture.
• Experience in a community-based development project with a national or international NGO.
• Experience in implementing agriculture projects, at least 10 years of similar experience in relevant field is desirable and providing training.
• Experience with international donors is highly preferred.

• Ability to successfully initiate and maintain positive relationships with communities and COOPs.
• Highly motivated and with a desire to work with vulnerable local communities.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people.
• Strong understanding of human rights, particularly the rights of refugees, migrant workers, and gender-based violence.
• Be a resident of Lebanon, with the ability to work inside Lebanon.

Languages and Computer skills

• Spoken Arabic is required. Spoken and written English is strongly preferred. Spoken French is a plus.
• Working knowledge of computers using MS Word and Excel among other packages. Communicate effectively through email and use of internet.
