Principal Responsibilities

Technical

  • Assess work and produce work plans and material lists for WAM Logistics Officer to procure.
  • Fabricate metalwork such as fans, padlock shrouds and mounts for fans and other fittings being supplied to LAF units.
  • Carry out basic welding and construction tasks in support of fitting and mounting safety and security equipment supplied or manufactured in support of activities
  • Operate and/or direct the use of MAG diggers and excavators in support of MAG activities.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on all equipment issued to WAM Team.                                                                                                        

Training and Capacity Development

· Where appropriate and requested, train LAF personnel in the maintenance and repairs of any equipment provided by MAG.

· Liaise with MAG Security and Medical Personnel on provision of relevant training on Health and Safety, first aid and firefighting.

Communication and Reporting

· Ensure that WAM NTFM is fully briefed on any technical difficulties arising from equipment being provided in project implementation.

 · Work with WAM Logistics Officer in planning and procurement of materials required.

 · Maintain written and photographic record of all construction or fitting work conducted.

 · Ensure good understanding of all WAM technical aspects and requirements of the project with a view to provide best support.

 · Contribute to internal discussion and projects’ planning with regards to installation, service, repairs and maintenance of equipment on WAM operational sites aiming at value-for-money and sustainability

Health, Safety and Security

· Monitor health and safety situation in work location and areas of operations ensuring that the WAM NTFM is kept informed of risks and developments.       

GENERAL

  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.

Essential Experience
• Preferable Experience in working in HMA or SALW/ PSSM Operations in developing countries.
• Experience of fabricating in metal, plastics and wood
• Experience of installing and connecting basic electrical equipment
• Preferable Experience in operating diggers and excavators
• Experience of working independently for extended periods of time, in ‘stand-alone’ environments with minimal supervision

Essential Skills and Knowledge
• Ability to comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures
• Good organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with good command of English language
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills, specifically word and excel
