Job Summary
The Mentor is expected to support and encourage the professional development of the trainee, as well as provide active guidance before, during and after the On-The-Job training. The mentor should assist with exploring careers, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources.
Main tasks and Responsibilities
- Drive the relationship; scheduling time to meet with the Trainee and maintaining an up-to-date record of their plan and progress.
- Work proactively with the Trainee to assess their areas of strength, development
- areas, career goals and personal objectives and expectations of the mentoring
- relationship
- Take ownership for the Trainee development and committing to the exchange of information including; ideas, development themes, actions, feedback
- Train the Trainee on specific topics previously defined and planned.
- Conduct few visits to the house of Trainee to assess closely their situation.
- Follow through on actions discussed with the Trainee, gathering feedback and sharing personal learning.
- Respect the Trainee experience, ideas, guidance and time
- Organize and execute Spot checks to monitor the attendance, punctuality and progress of the Trainee
- Maintain good relationship and communication with the Trainee, the hosting entity (MSME) and the organization.
- Participate in the meetings and trainings provided by the project partners.
- Maintain confidentiality of Trainee, the hosting entity and the organization.

Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.
- Essential - Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2 years of work experience (previous experience in mentorship is an asset).
- Strong capacity to coordinate with a team.
- Familiarity with the Lebanese economy, market, Labor Market and Social Entrepreneurship.
- Integrity, fairness and impartiality.
- Ability to manage sensitive cases and confidential information.
- Knowledge of the main Lebanese economic sector, Business environment and common practices in Lebanon, and of international guidelines.
- Knowledge of the socio-economic circumstances in urban Tripoli.
- Extensive knowledge of the business environment in Tripoli and T5 area and demonstrated experience in field work.
- Demonstrable understanding of the gendered dynamics of labor relations, and linkages to decent work
- Diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
