Water and Sanitation Supervisor – Arsal & Hermel – 100%

-Function responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to,  water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management
  • Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project;
  • Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities;
  • Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation (e.g. physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.);
  • Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits
  • Supporting the Watsan Manager in the team planning (e.g. staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Watsan Manager in case of any major management or technical issue, and providing all required reporting
  • Planning and supervising the HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity
  • Participating in data collection and reporting as required

 

-Specific activities:

Working in an emergency intervention against scabies/ lice outbreak in refugee camps and host community in Hermel/ Arsal:

  • Communication with the “Shawish” of the camps where the affected households (HH) are located,  discussing their situation.
  • Engaging in communication and providing explanations to the people in the households (HH) about the scabies/ lice intervention.
  • Collaborating with other actors to discuss and coordinate water supply and desludging efforts.
  • Organizing and arranging water supply and desludging activities based on the identified needs.
  • Collecting and treating infected clothes, mattresses, carpets, blankets etc. by applying insecticide to eliminate lices and mites
  • Ensuring the intervention team has the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensuring the availability of required materials on-site for the intervention.
  • Monitoring and documenting the collection and return of clothes.
  • Coordinating activities with the laundry cleaner and reporting progress to the Water and Sanitation (WatSan) Man-ager.
  • Compiling daily reports and maintaining coordination with the WatSan Manager.Support of WatSan Manager with a WatSan assessment in the location Hermel/ Arsal.
  • Assisting the WatSan Manager in conducting a Water and Sanitation assessment in the project locations (Arsal, Hermel and Quaa).

 

-Required qualification:

Education

Essential: Technical degree or diploma in environment, health or any related field.

Desirable: Bachelors’ degree in environment, health or any related field.

Experience

Essential: Previous experience in water and sanitation

Desirable: Previous experience with (I)NGOs

Languages                            

Essential: Full professional proficiency using the English and Arabic language

Desirable: Elementary to limited proficiency using the French language

Knowledge

Essential: Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
