Funding & Grants Coordinator

Background

DCA Lebanon has worked in mine action since 2007. In addition to reducing the harm from explosion, clearance activities also release contaminated land for socio-economic development in the context of rising demands from the local and refugee population. In 2012, DCA began implementing humanitarian and development projects through local partners and scaled up its operations in 2021 due to the deepening crisis in country.

Role

The overall objective of this role is identifying and securing funding opportunities for DCA Lebanon. These opportunities have to be in line with the recently approved Country Strategy 2023-2027 and DCA’s Global Strategy.

S/he will draft concept notes and other relevant communication means, research and identify potential funding sources, prepare grant proposals and applications, and help to maintain relationships with funders and donors. S/he need to have strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, experience in grant writing and fundraising in Lebanon or the region is crucial. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Researching potential funding sources: The Funding & Grants Officer must stay up to date with current funding opportunities, identify potential funding sources, and assess the fit between funding opportunities and the organization's needs. 
  • Developing proposals and grant applications: The Funding & Grants Officer must create compelling grant proposals and applications that clearly communicate the organization's mission, objectives, and strategies to potential funders, in close collaboration with relevant team members and partners (Head Quarters, Programme, Operation and Finance teams) in English.
  • Maintaining relationships with funders and donors: The Funding & Grants Officer must establish and maintain strong relationships with funders and donors, including conducting outreach, communicating with funders, and providing regular updates on the organization's progress. 
  • Developing and implementing fundraising strategies: The funding and grants officer must develop and implement fundraising strategies, including events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage new and existing donors and raise funds for the organization. 

 

Background

  • A bachelor’s degree in international development or other related social sciences.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of humanitarian, development, or INGO work; ideally in Lebanon or the region.
  • Documented successful experience in proposal development and writing.
  • Knowledge of handling contracts of international donors including EU, USAID, DANIDA, UN Agencies, as well as other institutional donors.
  • Likes to liaise and to raise the profile of DCA with donors and other external stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills and having the capacity to work with a partner-based approach.
  • Flexible, proactive, self-motivated, and good at coordinating and organizing own work as well as that of the team.
  • Paying attention to details and having the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Knowledge of and experience with private sector partnerships is an absolute advantage.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required, French is an advantage.
