3 positions for Community Health Educator – Wadi Khaled, Akkar

-Function responsibilities include:

  • Prepare material and deliver health education sessions, messages and topics addressed to different populations regarding hygiene, diseases and prevention.
  • Ensure all the patients and caretakers are well informed, according to protocols, about health related issues and services provided.
  • Monitor health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening, collecting information related to food security, checking vaccination status of children, looking actively for any defaulters in programs that require this type of research, collecting information on number of people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths in the community, etc.
  • Identify people with medical problems, contact with medical team and report for immediate transfer if needed. He/she has to inform to the line manager about any problem encountered (population, equipment, material…).
  • Report to line manager of all results of screening and visits on a regular basis.

 

-Specific activities:

  • Participate in the adaptation of tools and messages by providing community misconceptions related to Health Promotion, suggesting contextual adjustments like pictures or wording, pretesting, and offering feedback.
  • Link the community to the facility through active referrals, information gathering (on needs, concerns, security), and feedback.
  • Collect information on the knowledge, perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs of the community on specific topics and gauge MSF acceptance to understand community needs and intervention more deeply.
  • Provide information about MSF and its services.
  • Participate in the creation of community-based interventions that are tailored to community needs and informed by cultural understanding.
  • Implement community-based activities such as health education and vaccination outreach.
  • Participate in the execution of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible survivors and referring them to care as per protocol.
  • Attend meetings and trainings proposed by the organization for continuous skill development.
  • Participate in the application of the Community-Based Surveillance Strategy (CBSS).
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the hierarchy

- Required qualification:

Education

  • Essential: Community Health, Public Health, Paramedical or Medical diploma.
  • Desirable: bachelor’s degree in public health.

Experience

  • Desirable: A minimum of 1 year of previous work experience in a similar position
  • Desirable: A minimum of 1 year of previous work experience in (I)NGO’s

Languages

  • Essential: Full professional proficiency of the Arabic Language
  • Essential: Limited professional proficiency of the English Language

Knowledge                       

  • Essential: Intermediate computer literacy in using MS-office applications (including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
