Older People Program Coordinator

Position Overview:
Amel Association International, a distinguished non-profit organization based in Beirut, is seeking a highly proficient and committed individual to assume the Older People Program Coordinator role. The Program Coordinator will lead and coordinate projects dedicated to enhancing the well-being and empowerment of older individuals. This pivotal position entails overseeing project planning, budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and cultivating collaborations with stakeholders and donors. The ideal candidate will possess organizational, leadership, and communication skills and a genuine passion for serving older people in diverse communities.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Coordination and Planning:

  • Spearhead the coordination of Amel's projects focused on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and older people, collaborating closely with key team members to develop meticulous project plans.
  • Set definitive milestone goals and establish measurable metrics to gauge project progress and team performance, ensuring the timely and successful implementation of initiatives.

2. Reporting and Financial Management:

  • Produce comprehensive narrative and financial reports, providing regular and transparent updates to stakeholders on project developments.
  • Collaborate effectively with finance teams to create and oversee budgets, meticulously ensuring that all expenditures adhere to donor requirements and organizational guidelines.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Institute a robust monitoring and evaluation system to assess the quality and efficacy of services delivered to older people.
  • Oversee three medical and mental health teams and two field coordinators to guarantee the seamless fulfillment of project criteria and efficient provision of services.

4. Donor Relations and Project Evaluation:

  • Forge direct and effective partnerships with donors to facilitate project evaluations and financial audits, championing transparency and accountability throughout.
  • Conduct periodic field/site visits to diligently monitor project activities and deliver unwavering support to esteemed field team members.

5. Accessibility and Inclusivity:

  • Strategically adapt health facilities to become more accessible to older individuals and people with disabilities, fostering inclusivity and equitable access to vital services.

6. Proposal Development:

  • Skillfully draft proposals, logical frameworks, and comprehensive budgets for new programs catering to primary healthcare packages and psycho-social support for at-risk older individuals.

7. Community Events and Campaigns:

  • Articulately devise and manage community events and campaigns that promote inclusive practices and foster the well-being of older women and men, cultivating a strong sense of community and mutual support.

8. Team Management:

  • Demonstrate astute leadership by efficiently managing and supporting the field team, guaranteeing effective outreach to target groups and unwavering adherence to project criteria.
  • Offer indispensable guidance and mentorship to team members, cultivating an environment conducive to professional growth and personal development.

9. Empowerment Activities:

  • Innovatively create activities that significantly enhance the well-being of older individuals by providing a secure space for emotional expression, life skills training, and empowering programs that effectively reduce dependency.

10. Communications and Advocacy:

  • Collaborate synergistically with the communications team to effectively disseminate success stories, heighten awareness of elderly-related issues, and substantially increase the visibility of the organization's transformative projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a pertinent field (e.g., Public Health, Social Work, International Development) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project coordination, particularly in programs dedicated to older people or vulnerable communities.
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Thorough familiarity with monitoring and evaluation methodologies to ensure the seamless effectiveness of programs.
  • Communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, which facilitate successful engagement with donors and stakeholders.
  • Adeptness at working in diverse and multicultural environments.
  • Sensitivity to the unique needs and challenges faced by older people in diverse contexts.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • 3-5 years of experience with a local and/or international humanitarian and/or development organizations.
