The Rural Initiative

The Rural initiative (TRI) is a non-governmental organization that strongly believes that sustainable rural development is crucial to the economic, social and environmental viability of Lebanon.

The Rural Initiative was created by experts in the development fields, to cater to the needs of Lebanon and with a priority to Rural Lebanon. We work hand in hand with local public actors such as the Union of Municipalities and active municipalities in order to further develop the rural regions in a professional, transparent and traceable way.

We create and implement sustainable projects in our fields of:
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Accelerating the entrepreneurial potential of the inhabitants of rural and urban areas with a focus on social enterprises to support them in developing innovative initiatives based on the region’s strategic plan and needs.
EDUCATION
Transformation with sustainable education including but not limited to vocational trainings and workshops developed based on needs and opportunities assessment.
ENVIRONMENT
Forest rehabilitation clean energy and environmental rural tourism with a focus on the creation and the implementation of authentic community based projects, products and experiences with sustainable impact
AGRICULTURE
Developing turnkey agricultural projects promoting green growth and offering opportunities to contribute to the sustain able economic, social and environmental development of rural areas.
CULTURE AND CRAFT
Preservation of regional craft expertise and culture with a focus on local and international market access and marketing, including but not limited to e-commerce and export potential strategy development.
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
Strengthening productive activities such as manufacturing and services by scaling up existing capacities and complementing them with secondary (such as agribusiness and food processing) and tertiary activities (such as environmental services and professional services).
