Business Development Coordinator - Sin El Fil

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing, managing and facilitating the overall proposal development process, coordinating partnerships and leading on research projects. This position reports to the Head of Business Development Unit and works closely with portfolio managers, MEAL team, and support functions.

MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Activities

Program and Proposals Development:

  • Work with the Head of Business Development Unit (HoU) to establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential donors and partners
  • Produce and regularly update a comprehensive mapping of all donor opportunities in the country, including the regular update of the portfolio analysis of CL
  • Develop narrative, logical frameworks, budgets, and all other annexes for proposals. This includes soliciting ideas from program and field staff, coordinating with the programs team, and packaging proposals to meet the specific needs of different donors
  • Develop and maintain a database of potential donors and partners.
  • Keep a record of the outcomes of the proposals that have been submitted and use that information to generate insights and recommendations to improve the CL's prepositioning
  • Identify and conceptualize prospective activities that are appropriate in response to the present political context as well as specified program goals and objectives
  • Assist in the development of technical presentations and other content, as well as rolling evaluations and other planning exercises, in collaboration with the BD-HoU
  • Contribute to the development and periodic revision of a stakeholders’ engagement strategy
  • Support the HoU in creating relevant tools, matrixes, SOPs and guidelines that align with the organization's business development strategy and facilitate the implementation of new initiatives and projects

Research:

  • Lead research projects and Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessments
  • Conduct research on recent developments in the country and keep abreast of changing needs, knowledge on humanitarian and development trends, programs, highlighting community and Caritas internal priorities, and feeding into sectoral strategies
  • Develop and implement research studies to generate evidence-based data for programming purposes in coordination with the BD data analyst and the MEAL unit
  • Contribute to sectoral strategies that respond to the needs of the communities we serve in collaboration with relevant CL staff
  • Maintain a database of relevant research studies, reports, and other publications, ensuring easy access to the information

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Grants Coordinator to ensure accurate archiving of grants documentation (contracts, proposals, annexes, reporting, project-specific MEAL tools) and their access for all relevant staff
  • Help identify potential strategic partners and engage in strategic partnership discussions in close collaboration with the BD-HoU
  • In coordination with the R&D Officer and the MEAL Department, support the evaluation of projects and lessons learned to feed into other proposal development processes and ensure findings are institutionalized
  • Support the linguistic revision of CL documents such as letters and reports, ensuring they meet the highest standards of accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist in any other task requested by the BD-HoU within the scope of work of the unit

Generic Duties

  • Follow Caritas Lebanon operational policy and procedures
  • Respect the internal policies and procedures for example: dress code, attendance, discipline, etc.
  • Complete schedules, activity planners, monitor staff availability and act against any shortfalls
  • Resolve any staff issues and escalate any unresolved issue to the related manager
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Academic:

  • Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, political science, international relations, or any relevant field
  • Masters’ degree is a plus

Other Qualifications:

  • Good experience establishing and maintaining donor relationships, tracking donor trends and opportunities
  • Track record of developing successful proposal packages, including narrative, logical frameworks, and budgets
  • Experience working with local organizations on project design and assessing technical and programmatic capacities
  • Excellent written and verbal
  • communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office

Related Work Experience:

3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role related to program development, grant acquisition and research

Language skills:

English and Arabic

Computer Literacy:

MS-Word / MS-Excel – Intermediate level
