Farmers Training Consultant (North – Akkar)

SCOPE OF WORK

  1. Objective

The main objective of this project is to improve the resilience of individuals, households, communities, and systems in the face of economic and climatic shocks and stressors affecting the food security, nutrition, and well-being of Lebanese and displaced women and men in vulnerable areas.

One of the objectives Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) is responsible for is strengthening Vulnerable households and farmers with business literacy, market linkages, technical and practical trainings in the Value Chain.

FTL is looking for consultants and expert to conduct training to vulnerable farmers in North – Akkar.

  1. Outcomes

The following outcomes are what the activity aims to achieve within the business literacy topic:

  • To ensure that trainees are familiar with accounting management.
  • To ensure that trainees are familiar with financial management.
  • To ensure that trainees know how to split between personal and business transactions and accounts, use the Expenses and Revenues statement and plan the cash flow.
  • To ensure that trainees are familiar with fixed and variable costs and equivalence points.
  • To ensure that trainees have the basics of entrepreneurial thinking by developing ideas and feasibility studies.
  • To ensure that trainees know how to set SMART goals and use SWOT analysis for management and finance.

The following outcomes are what the activity aims to achieve within the market linkages topic:

  • To ensure that trainees know the basics of marketing and digital marketing, and how to target their audience.
  • To ensure that trainees have the basics of networking and professional communication in a digital, social, mobile world.
  • To ensure that trainees have knowledge of negotiation techniques.
  • To ensure that trainees are able to develop and deliver business presentations (stand/exhibition/exposition management/elevator pitch).

The following outcomes are what the activity aims to achieve within the technical and practical for farmers topic:

  • To ensure that trainees know how to use integrated pest management farming.
  • To ensure that trainees understand the efficiency of water (irrigation) and soil management
  • To ensure that trainees are familiar with GAP.
  • To ensure that trainees understand climate adaptation practices at the individual and business level.
  • To ensure that trainees are familiar with composting techniques.
  • To ensure that trainees understand the good hygiene practices.

 

  1. Deliverables

To conduct training sessions for groups of farmers

  • 21 hours per group of financial literacy training for 3 groups of farmers (in total 63 hours).
  • 3 hours per group of market linkage training for 3 groups of farmers (in total 9 hours).
  • 16 hours per group of technical training for 3 groups of farmers (in total 48 hours).
  • 24 hours per group of practical training for 3 groups of farmers (in total 72 hours).

A total of 192 hours, therefore 57 days of training.

 

  1. Qualifications
  • University degree in business, economics, agriculture or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a trainer.
  • Proven knowledge of Fair-Trade principles
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Drives results
