Media Mentor

Shadda Media Lab was established as a media platform and shared workspace for media producers in Tripoli. Shadda's mission is to promote peace, positivity, and empathy through informative, entertaining, and realistic content. This effort aims to directly engage marginalized communities in Tripoli, providing them with a safe space for content creation and offering necessary equipment for innovative content development.

As part of the media team, a Professional a Creative Specialist in this field of Media and Communication will guide and mentor our participants of media creators and journalists over the course of 3 months.

In this period, the focus of the project will be on providing capacity building and training to a group of interested and experienced journalists and media creators, in order to support them in their creative media journey. The aim of this training program is to support the team in designing, developing, producing and launching their social media campaigns.

The role of the mentor is to lead the technical process of the training program, starting with the ideation phase moving to mentorship and follow up phases.

On the other hand, the mentor is expected to support the core team of the media lab in designing and producing three social media campaigns about countering hate speech, racism and fake news against refugees in Lebanon.

Our participants are a group of media college graduates and young media activists with very good experience of media and different cultural backgrounds.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support the trainees in design, create and launch their social media campaigns
• Provide technical workshops about the designing and development for the social media campaigns
• Conduct regular mentorship sessions for the team throughout the project implementation. (Campaigns designing and development and the production phase)
• Support the trainers by advising them on the content of the workshops they will provide for the trainees.
• Develop a mentorship workplan that reflects the needs of the project and the team.
• Support the media lab Manager in developing the SOPs needed for the media lab.
• Provide mentorship on communication and social media levels.
• Provide periodic reports and feedback to the project officer as the first person in charge in the Media lab.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certifications and experience in the media and information field.
• Strong facilitation and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team
• Strong interpersonal skill
• Proven experience as an art director
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Conflict/ gender Sensitivity Training is an Asset.
• Experience in designing training modules.
• Excellent social and personal relationships.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent in English and Arabic.

Professional Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in media, communication, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate unexpected challenges.
• Comprehensive knowledge of effective strategies against hate speech and racism.
• Relevant degree in a related field.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

Conditions

• Mentorship days: 5 – Average: 40 hours
