Project Coordinator

Summary

The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation activities of Lebanon School Kitchens project funded by AFD (French Development Agency).


 Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Act as a focal point in coordinating and monitoring the activities of the above-mentioned project; from the receipt of raw ingredients, preparation of cold meals in school kitchens, distribution of meals to students, to storage of leftovers as related to food safety
  • Ensure proper food safety measures, hygienic practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are applied in school kitchens and apply corrective actions where necessary
  • Coordinate with the school kitchen quality control officers (field staff) on the project developments to ensure proper fulfillment of the daily tasks, and report this to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate with the suppliers on delivery schedules and quality of food items received
  • Ensure activities are implemented in conformity with the approved project proposal.
  • Prepare, collect, and review field monitoring and data collection sheets.
  • Submit regular reports on challenges and achievements as agreed with the project manager, with respecting quality and deadlines.
  • Assist and provide guidance and support to the projects’ teams
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the projects’ activities
  • Liaise with the finance team on all required financial documents
  • Communicate and liaise internally with other IOCC departments as needed.
  • Assess, discuss, and address the projects’ challenges with the Project Manager.
  • Attend and participate in IOCC meetings.
  • Conduct food safety, kitchen management and other trainings to the quality control officers and other project staff, when necessary.  
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Assist in collecting working schedules and mileages for all field staff, with monitoring their schedule, and report to the Project Manager.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of food safety norms and standards.
  • Ability to achieve results and meet deadlines in a demanding, pressured and fast-paced environment.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Diplomacy and dynamic personality.
  • Capacity and willingness to travel to the field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Education:

  • B.Sc. in food science,  B.Sc. in food safety and quality management, nutrition or any related field; M.Sc is an advantage.  
  • Food safety certificates (HACCP, ISO22000)

Experience:

  • 3 to 4 years work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in food safety program implementation is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in IOCC office in Mansourieh, with frequent visits to the target schools all over Lebanon.
  • Preferable that candidate resides in Beirut-Mt Lebanon area.
  • The candidate should have a driving license and a car.
