Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development is a Lebanese non-governmental organization with special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). HF is dedicated to sustainable development across various sectors, including Education & Training, Public Health, Community Support, Urban Development, Environment & Agriculture, and State-Building. The foundation operates in partnership with stakeholders to promote citizen engagement, social cohesion, and community resilience.

Project Overview:

Hariri Foundation, together with its partners, is actively involved in promoting a sustainable and inclusive Blue Economy (BE) in Lebanon and the Saida region. The BE component of the Environment and Agriculture program at HF seeks to foster economic growth, social inclusion, and the preservation of marine ecosystems while decoupling these efforts from environmental degradation. The Blue Economy Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing several initiatives in line with the broader goals of sustainable development through national and local assessments, dialogues, policy briefs, and action plans. Among BE activities, the project "Adaptation to climate change through nature-based solutions for wastewater treatment and reuse in the Saida region, Lebanon" aims to design and implement an expert-guided localized water management pilot through nature-based solutions while safeguarding terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Position Overview:

The Blue Economy Coordinator will manage and coordinate a set of projects within the Environment & Agriculture Program at HF and across program partnerships. The coordinator will be responsible for project implementation, action plan and policy development, experts and stakeholders engagement, financial coordination, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the implementation of Blue Economy projects and undertake relevant tasks.

- Organize meetings, workshops, and conferences related to the Blue Economy initiative.

- Produce progress reports and assessments within the context of Blue Economy projects.

- Manage stakeholders and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

- Maintain contact with project partners and ensure adherence to partnership terms.

- Follow up on financial matters and present progress and financial reports as required.

- Mobilize experts and engage local stakeholders throughout project phases and milestones.

- Develop methodology reports to support the implementation of Blue Economy projects.

- Lead and facilitate a national dialogue on the Blue Economy, engaging relevant experts and stakeholders.

- Draft a comprehensive report on sustainable consumption and production as well as the circular economy within the national Blue Economy context.

- Produce policy recommendation notes and develop project proposals.

- Identify priority actions for the Blue Economy through a multi-stakeholder process.

- Undertake other project management tasks as necessary.
