Outreach Volunteer - Mechmech Akkar

Background:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

Activities Overview/Summary:

The main purpose of the volunteers is to support the Livelihood and Food security team in outreaching potential beneficiaries.

Activities:

• Visiting farms in Meshmesh, Akkar to disseminate information about NRC project in the area
• Providing interested beneficiaries/farmers with information on the selection process
• Receiving expressions of interest and report them to NRC field team
• Assisting potential beneficiaries/farmers in applying to NRC project
• Build strategic relationships with community
• Call beneficiaries/farmers to inform about the dates of the training
• Assist farmers in applying what they learned
• Report on challenges encountered, good practice and recommendations

Knowledge/Experience:

• Volunteers must have a good knowledge of and familiarity with Meshmesh village, Akkar, North Lebanon.  including of:
• Streets and key points
• local community and population habits and behaviors
• focal points or local leaders within the community
• concentration of smallholder farmers

Qualifications and Relevant Skills:

• Bachelor degree in social sciences, agriculture, public health, or related field.
• Relevant work experience in community outreach, community engagement, volunteering and community support in the non-profit sector.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
