SANAD is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit, human-right, home hospice care organization established in January 2010. Its mission is to provide comprehensive free of charge home‐based hospice care to advanced chronically and terminally ill patients while preserving their dignity and enhancing the quality of their remaining life. We aim to assist patients in remaining as alert, functional and comfortable as possible within the calm and sanctuary of their own home, surrounded by family and loved ones. SANAD delivers these support services to patients regardless of their nationality, religion, gender, diagnosis or ability to pay.
The research officer at SANAD will assist the Quality, Research and Development unit in research projects including but not limited to literature review and synthesis, write up of research proposal and ethical review board application, development of data collection tools, data analysis and writing manuscript. In addition to working on needs assessment projects, program evaluation projects, and awareness raising activities and campaigns.
Main Functions and Duties- Accurately interprets literature and research papers.
- Conducts literature review and synthesizes findings.
- Assists in identifying research questions and designing small scale research projects.
- Writes research proposal including application for ethical review.
- Assists in designing surveys and interview guides as data collection tools.
- Collects data using quantitative and qualitative approaches.
- Conducts accurate data management and cleaning.
- Uses computer software (SPSS or STATA) for data analysis.
- Analyzes and writes research results accurately.
- Communicates research findings with different target audience appropriately. Other Functions and Duties
- Assists in developing awareness raising campaigns using social marketing principles.
- Assists in developing awareness raising material in Arabic and English.
- Assists in grant proposal writing.
- Learns about palliative care and its different aspects.
- Ensures own professional development by setting professional developmental goals and an action plan with a timeline. Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of research and analytical methodologies and ability to demonstrate practical application of both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
- Good knowledge and basic experience in using statistical analytical software (SPSS or STATA)
- Excellent knowledge and skills in using excel for data analysis and data display.
- Excellent skills in preparing PowerPoints.
- Very good English writing skills.
- Knowledge about palliative care is a plus.
