Communication Officer

The Communications Officer plays a pivotal role in spearheading the development and execution of comprehensive internal and external communication strategies tailored to diverse target audiences and communities. They are instrumental in elevating the profile of the Association, producing a diverse range of communication materials, managing external communication channels such as social media platforms, crafting compelling copy for newsletters, grants, and proposals, and serving as the Association's ambassador at various events.     

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic communication plan and marketing strategy to advocate for and enhance the visibility of Ana Aqra. This includes creative marketing campaigns, visibility events, and outreach activities.
  • Design and create engaging, target-specific communication and media materials, encompassing videos, infographics, newsletters, project brochures, press releases, annual reports, and banners.
  • Identify and segment target audiences and devise strategies for effective engagement through appropriate communication channels.
  • Collaborate with programmatic teams to source content, success stories, and feedback for streamlined messaging and content development.
  • Manage the Association's social media channels and website, continuously evaluate and adapt social media campaigns, monitor trends, generate engaging posts, promote content, and boost web traffic in line with a monthly communication plan.
  • Assist in the organization of events, workshops, and meetings, including the creation of promotional materials and event documentation.
  • Establish and cultivate positive relationships with educational institutions, centers, media outlets, journalists, bloggers, investors, and customer audiences.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with partners and other entities, representing Ana Aqra at events as needed.
  • Manage relationships and logistical operations with service providers, including graphic design firms, printing houses, photographers, videographers, and others in coordination with the procurement department.
  • Fulfill any other duties as required by the manager.
     

Educational Requirements and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English, with a demonstrated ability to write and edit professionally in both languages.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in communications, particularly within NGOs operating in the humanitarian or development sectors.
  • Proven creativity and extensive involvement in social media and e-marketing programs.
  • Experience in content sourcing and management, as well as publishing.
  • Proficiency in website management and research, along with proficiency in MS Office. Graphic design and photo/video experience are preferred.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
