Context
Mercy-USA is currently looking to expand its Compliance & Internal Audit department in Lebanon to accommodate its growing activities and to ensure its continuous compliance with all donors’ rules, regulations and requirements.
The Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular internal audit cycles on monthly / quarterly basis over operations effectiveness and compliance with all applicable policies and procedures and determine the associated compliance risk
- Provide assistance to determine the internal audit scope and develop annual plans in coordination with the Compliance and Internal Audit Coordinator
- Prepare and present reports that reflect audits findings
- Assist in the objective review and development of the organization business policies, processes and procedures
- Assist in identifying internal/ external risks and update the risk register accordingly
- Ensure the organization compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and grant agreement
- Make recommendations to further improve the internal controls and governance processes
- Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement
- Assist in creating and managing effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations as well as conducting follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
- Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s policies, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards
Minimum Hiring Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in external or internal audit, Preferably NGOs audit experience. Experience in an NGO and knowledge of major international institutional donors is required.
- Bachelor degree in finance/management/auditing/internal auditing
- CPA certification is highly desirable.
- Understanding of INGO needs is a must.
- Strong verbal and written command of the English & Arabic languages is a must.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to commit to occasional travel.

Mercy-USA is committed to child safeguarding and PSEA at all operational levels to protect its staff, volunteers and beneficiaries from the harm that arises out of sexual exploitation and abuse. Mercy-USA conducts background checks on all new hires including requesting police reports. When individuals are terminated from Mercy-USA because of claims related to child safeguarding or PSEA, after investigation, they are reported to relevant authorities and added to relevant criminal/abuser registries to ensure they are not hired again by other INGOs, local NGOs or the UN.
The person hired for this position will have no direct contact or involvement with beneficiaries.
