Terre des hommes- Lausanne is seeking to recruit a qualified “Community Care Workers” based is Masaken Area or surroundings, for its Makani Centers in the South Region.

Selected Candidate will be employed on a Service Contract Basis

In local contexts, the Community Care Worker is responsible for conducting PSS sessions for children in the Community Center and ISs (MAKANI Program), monitoring attendance, and providing recommendations to the Specialized Social Worker. The Community Care Worker provides support to the teachers and educators in the Center and ensure all CP concerns are identified and addressed properly.

Under the management of the Center Manager, the Community Care Worker will perform the following tasks:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Community Care:

  • Follow up on children and caregivers with CP concerns in the Community center and ISs (MAKANI Program).
  • Support teachers and educators in identifying children with CP concerns (In the IS and CC).
  • Follow up on the attendance of children attending PSS sessions.
  • Safely identify and refer children with child protection concerns to relevant services (including child protection, formal education, Wash – Health – etc).
  • Report on challenges encountered, good practices and recommendations for the program.
  • Attend all the trainings including (PSEA – Safeguarding – referral – etc.)
  • Ensure the safeguarding of children in MAKANI program as act as a CP focal point in the Center.
  • Ensure daily follow up with the IT help desk.
  • Conduct a weekly report to the specialized social worker and provide recommendations about CP and attendance of children.
  • Conduct PSS sessions in all MSCC centers when needed.
  • Ensure CP and GBV mainstreaming as well as sensitization on CP and GBV.
  • Support teachers and educators in identifying children with CP concerns and referring them when relevant following the CP procedures and policy.
  • Ensure that MSCC is of a friendly space to all children.
  • Report on challenges encountered, good practices and recommendations for the programs.

Data Management:

  • Regularly document cases using case notes and other agreed upon forms.
  • Update the respective databases to ensure a comprehensive record of the service provided.
  • Ensure that data collection and storage respect data protection protocols and confidentiality principle.
  • Regularly provide field reports, protection monitoring reports and reports related to project progress to your line manager.

Coordination and Representation:

  • Directly communicate effectively with other community care workers and service providers in order to advocate, collaborate and provide services to the best interests of children.
  • Regularly attend Child Protection case management meetings and relevant case conferences at field level.
  • In addition to the CP case management team, collaborate closely with other members of the Child Protection team and GBV team ensuring smooth coordination and referrals.
  • Direct communication and coordination with Technical Unit and Global Technical Advisors.

Organisational Policies:

  • Respect the Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct (GCD), Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Prevention from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy (PSEA) and Policy on Gender and Diversity and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP/PSEA Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy
  • Abide by and promote the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job
  • Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the line managers.

Job Requirements:

Academic Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or any relevant field.

Experience:  At least 3 years of experience in the community and social work.

Reports to: Center Manager

Location/Travel:  Masaken Center.
