GBV case worker- Beqaa area

LUPD is seeking to hire a GBV case worker under a project implemented by LUPD, and in partnership with MPDL, in order to implement the project activities.

Job Overview:

The GBV case worker works to ensure improved quality of health and psychosocial support for survivors with disabilities and/or their relatives, support development of a functional referral networks that enhance survivors’ ability to receive confidential, safe, and timely services that meets their needs in a timely manner. The GBV case worker oversees Case management and psychosocial support services provided to survivors of gender-based violence and women and girls with disabilities in general.

Objectives of the role:

  • Provide direct support and care for adult survivors of GBV and age-appropriate specialized support and care for adolescent, male and girl child survivors with disabilities of GBV, including counseling and case management.
  • Follow GBV guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, and safety/security and non- discrimination while providing services.
  • Establish a hotline and proper management to ensure that survivors from more rural and underserved areas can access information about service provision and that action can be taken to facilitate their ability to receive services in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure proper documentation of reported GBV incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to GBV guiding principles and the provision of survivor centered care (respect wishes, decisions of survivors).
  • In consultations with GBV officer, develop and implement/ share monthly response plan and GBV key messages/issues based on case trends to disseminate information on services available and referral pathways.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management services will include:
  • Assessment of needs of WGwDs or their relatives.
  • Developing an action plan with WGwDs or their relatives.
  • Implementing the plan with WGwDs or their relatives.
  • Provide physical accompaniment to GBV survivors with disabilities if requested to access medical and other services according to their wishes, choices and decisions.
  • Conduct direct and regular follow up of GBV survivors with disabilities through home visits and based on survivors wishes and consent.
  • Case closure (if and when appropriate).
  • Ensure proper documentation of reported GBV incidences through utilization of GBVIMS case intake, action, follow up and other case management forms appropriately.
  • Follow GBV guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, and safety/security and non- discrimination while providing services to women and girls.
  • Monitor how the GBV referral pathway is working through making direct follow ups with other organizations that are providing services to survivors.
  • Support to conduct and help plan and organize psychosocial/ group support activities with women and adolescent girls with disabilities to meet the emotional needs of survivors, build support networks among women/girls, and promote social integration of survivors and other vulnerable women with the local partner.
  • Work with women and girls with disabilities in the community to identify their needs, interests and priorities as relevant to the context, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of women and girls, and enabled for the fully participation in the coordination with the inclusion officer.
  • Support the management of LUPD GBV hotline.
  • Conduct awareness raising activities on GBV and its health consequences, promoting available services to women and girls, and addressing the stigma preventing women and girls with disabilities from accessing support and services with activities for female only group.
  • Identify and refer extremely vulnerable women and girls to access services and material support in accordance with their level of vulnerability.
  • In collaboration with the program manager, participate in meetings with community leadership structures when necessary to advocate for the needs of women and girls, and encourage their participation in GBV prevention and response activities in the communities.
  • Support updating of available and viable services for GBV survivors.
  • Prepare and submit weekly & monthly reports as required and incorporate supervisors’ feedback in a timely manner, including information related to survivor non-identifying data, treatment provided, follow up visits, drugs availability, referrals to other service providers and awareness activities conducted etc.
  • Collect and manage data safely and ethically.
  • Perform any other duty as directed by the supervisor.

Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:
- Degree in social work.
- Knowledge of GBV prevention and response, as well as case management principles and techniques.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities, refugees and other groups.
- Familiarity with GBV data collection system and safe and ethical guidelines.
- Ability to work with both adult and child survivors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to human rights and gender equality.
