Qualified Community Facilitator based in Jezzine Area of Surroundings

Job Announcement:

Terre des hommes - Foundation (Lausanne) is seeking a qualified Community Facilitator based in Jezzine Area of Surroundings for its new project “Improved protection environment for Lebanese and Refugees girls and women exposed to Gender-Based Violence in Jezzine”.

Job Purpose / Main Functions:

In local contexts, the GBV Community Facilitator works to ensure Tdh is engaged not only with adolescent girls, young women, boys, and young men but also with communities, local partners, and other stakeholders operating in communities.

The position aims to facilitate the effective operation of community groups, mobilize and ensure active participation and engagement in prevention activities to ensure the protection of adolescent girls and social behavioral change towards gender-based violence.

Duties & Responsibilities / Context  (Tasks) :

Community Engagement:

  • Build and sustain the capacity of community and local actors to respond to the GBV needs of adolescent girls and young women.
  • Work with community organizations, partners, and faith-based actors to increase awareness and sensitivity to key Gender Based Violence concepts.
  • Establish family support networks and assist them in setting clear plans and objectives.
  • Support PSS facilitators in their activities for Social Behavioral Change Initiatives but also general activities in Women and Girls Safe Spaces and Boys’ Clubs.
  • Organize and participate in all project events (practical trainings on collaboration between the local government and communities, consultations with communities, mobilization of youth, community design workshops, etc.)
  • Organize raising and community awareness activities and training.
  • Support with community outreach.

Adolescent Girls and Young Women:

  • Ensure that Adolescents Girls and Young Women are interested in meeting regularly voluntarily.
  • Support in the establishment of Women and Girls Safe Spaces and Boys’ Clubs.
  • Ensure Adolescents Girls and Young Women are mobilized to conduct GBV peer activities within their community.
  • Work with community-based youth groups to enhance their capacity to identify risks and provide information within their communities about GBV services.

General Duties:

  • Provide clear information, feedback and support to the GBV teams, raising issues as needed and working together to promote a strong team. 
  • Ensure clear positive communication with all members of the Gender Based Violence Department and the local partner.
  • Respect budget information that is given and improve the quality of purchases related to this role.
  • Maintain an organized style of work, making suggestions to the teams concerning improvements that could be made to the parts of work are the Community Facilitator’s responsibility.
  • Keep accurate and up to date information concerning reporting requirements as directed by the Project Manager, assisting with reporting obligations when needed.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Ensure close coordination and update with the case workers, psychologists, PSS Officers, lawyers and community volunteers.
  • Contribute to create a positive atmosphere interacting constructively with colleagues and adolescents’ girls, young women and their families.
  • Communicating efficiently with technical team and managers conveying to them ideas and new proposals according to daily observation in dealing with adolescents’ girls.
  • Participate with in donor visits and promote proper preparation and implementation.
  • Conduct communication with the stakeholders, partners, and municipalities through regular visits.

Other:

  • Support the other teams and his/her line manager
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.

  • Is aware of, abide by and promote the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies;
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job;

Job requirements:

Academic Background:

Baccalaureate degree in Social and Human Sciences or other relevant education.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in relevant work.

Reports to: Project Manager.

Location/Travel: Activities in Jezzine Area.
