Clinical Psychologist based in Tyre

Job Announcement:

 

Terre des hommes- Lausanne is seeking a qualified Clinical Psychologist based in Tyre.

 

In local contexts, the Clinical Psychologist will provide individual and group counselling to IDPs children and their caregivers. He/she will also provide capacity building to emergency team and the partner’s team when relevant.

Under the management of the Project Manager, the Clinical Psychologist will perform the following tasks:

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

Individual and Group Counseling:

  • Provide counselling and therapy sessions to IDPs individual cases and groups that have been identified as needing specialized psychological support, and which have been referred by team and/ or other stakeholders.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, including assessment of mental health needs and suicide risk assessment.
  • Plan and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions (individual and/or group) utilizing appropriate and evidence-based interventions. Evaluate the outcomes of interventions and identify additional aftercare needs.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by line manager as required.

 

Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and capacity building to projects’ staff as requested by the PM.
  • Ensure technical oversight and field-monitoring of the program staff in close coordination with project manager and technical team, notably to ensure quality control and adequate implementation of the planned tools and frameworks.
  • Train tdh and partners staff in child and adolescent psychosocial care.

 

Monitoring and reporting:

  • Gather information, data, reports and evidence from child protection monitors and other staff, and draft short situation reports and analytical reports to submit to the PM on a regular basis.
  • Prepare initial drafts of mandatory reports (such as contribution to the SitRep, donor reports, etc.). Contribute, under the supervision of the PM, to writing the intermediate and final reports for donors on MHPSS and child protection.
  • Participate in writing articles and MSC.
  • Draft minutes of meetings and activity reports as required and/or requested.

 

Networking/Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Tdh teams, , in accordance with PM’s orientation and guidance.  
  • Under the supervision of the PM, network with local partners and the community. 4
  • Represent Tdh externally in a professional manner, and in accordance with his/her competencies.

 

Other tasks:

  • Ensure that the security tracking is respected, monitor the security context and situation, and brief and update the PM regularly regarding developments and risks.
  • Maintain and ensure a culture of strict confidentiality - among Tdh staff and between Tdh staff and non-Tdh employees or beneficiaries.
  • Undertake all other duties as assigned by the PM that are compatible with the job.

 

Organisational Policies:

  • Respect the Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct (GCD), Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Prevention from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy (PSEA) and Policy on Gender and Diversity and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP/PSEA Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy
  • Is aware of, abide by and promote the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job
  • Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the line managers

 

Job Requirements:

 

Academic Background:  Degree in Psychology or counselling with psychotherapy, clinical and or

 counselling psychology. Experience in working with girls and youth. MA in Clinical Psychology.

A completed clinical training/practicum in a university centre consisting of at least 100 hours of training under supervision, and 300 hours of applied training

Must Have:

  • Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists.
  • License to practice the clinical psychology profession from the Ministry of Public Health

 

N.B: A letter of recommendation from a senior clinical psychologist supervisor (holder of a doctorate and/or a scholar) and membership in one of the registered psychological associations of Lebanon is preferable.

  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining a strong team player.

  • Flexibility, adaptability and high work capacity to ensure activities and technical support/coordination support in a timely manner to achieve project results.
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills.
  • Competent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Reports to: Emergency Project Manager

Location/Travel:  IDPs in Tyre Area.
